Combine World-Class Golf with Rich History, Art, and Cuisine in Stunning Italian Destinations.
Italy is one of the fastest growing golf destinations in recent years and with over 300 courses and a vast number of luxurious hotels, resorts and spa retreats, it is easy to see why.
Whether you fancy a great value golf break whilst taking in a visit to the Ferrari museum in the Emilia Romagna region, going on a boat trip inbetween rounds of golf around The Lakes in Northern Italy, seeing the sights of Tuscany including the leaning tower in Pisa or combining a beach holiday with golf in the sun on Sicily, Italy has it all!
With the 2022 Ryder Cup in Italy and the growth of European Tour events being hosted in this gastronomic nation, the participation in golf has grown exponentially in recent years which has resulted in the quality of courses improving and the value of golf packages become a little more appealing.
Courses worth mentioning are Biella in the countryside surrounding Lake Maggiore, Bologna in Italy’s food capital of Emilia Romagna, the great value resort at Poggio dei Medici in Tuscany and Sicily’s two five-star luxury resorts at Verdura and Donnafugata, but there are so many to choose from, why not plan a tour and visit more than one region. If nothing else, you’ll eat and drink like a king.

Italy is at its best for golf in April–June and September–October—warm, bright, and comfortable for walking courses. July and August can be very hot in many regions, so early tee times (or a northern base) make a big difference.
For a classic “golf + food + scenery” trip, Tuscany is the dream. Lake Garda is brilliant for a stylish lakeside break with excellent hotels, while Sicily suits sunshine seekers who want golf plus coastal relaxation.
Expect mostly parkland and resort-style courses with immaculate presentation, often set among vineyards, olive groves, lakes, or rolling countryside. Italy is less about brutal links tests and more about enjoyable golf in beautiful places—with long lunches that are part of the experience.
Yes, Italy is very friendly for higher handicaps because many layouts are playable and the vibe is relaxed. It’s also a great place to mix golf with coaching, because you’ll typically have good practice facilities and a slower holiday pace.
4–5 nights is perfect for one region and 3 rounds (plus proper dining time). If you want to combine areas—say Rome + countryside or Tuscany + coast—then 7–10 nights is ideal.
Very easy: plenty of flights to major gateways, then short transfers depending on region. Italy also works brilliantly for “fly into one city, fly home from another” if you want a touring-style golf holiday.
Some clubs may ask for handicap proof at peak times, but many resort courses are visitor-friendly. Standard travel documents and normal dress rules apply, and we’ll flag anything course-specific before you travel.
Italy is unbeatable for food and wine, historic cities, lakes, and coastline. Add vineyard tastings, spa hotels, and sightseeing days (Florence, Rome, Venice-style culture) and it becomes a full luxury holiday, not just a golf trip.
