Italy is at its best for golf in April–June and September–October—warm, bright, and comfortable for walking courses. July and August can be very hot in many regions, so early tee times (or a northern base) make a big difference.
For a classic “golf + food + scenery” trip, Tuscany is the dream. Lake Garda is brilliant for a stylish lakeside break with excellent hotels, while Sicily suits sunshine seekers who want golf plus coastal relaxation.
Expect mostly parkland and resort-style courses with immaculate presentation, often set among vineyards, olive groves, lakes, or rolling countryside. Italy is less about brutal links tests and more about enjoyable golf in beautiful places—with long lunches that are part of the experience.
Yes, Italy is very friendly for higher handicaps because many layouts are playable and the vibe is relaxed. It’s also a great place to mix golf with coaching, because you’ll typically have good practice facilities and a slower holiday pace.
4–5 nights is perfect for one region and 3 rounds (plus proper dining time). If you want to combine areas—say Rome + countryside or Tuscany + coast—then 7–10 nights is ideal.
