UAE Golf Booms as Abu Dhabi and Dubai Prepare for DP World Tour Play-Offs 2026
The United Arab Emirates is preparing for one of the biggest fortnights in professional golf, with the DP World Tour Play-Offs returning to Abu Dhabi and Dubai this November.
The Abu Dhabi Aldar Championship takes place at Yas Links from 5–8 November 2026, followed by the DP World Tour Championship at Jumeirah Golf Estates from 12–15 November, where the Race to Dubai champion will be crowned.
And while the world's leading golfers prepare to battle for the season-ending honours, new figures suggest that golf in the UAE is enjoying a particularly strong year.
For us at Hashtag Golf Travel, that's hardly surprising. The combination of championship golf courses, luxury hotels, reliable winter sunshine and outstanding facilities makes a UAE golf holiday one of our favourite recommendations when the British weather starts making golf considerably less enjoyable.

The DP World Tour Play-Offs Return to the UAE
November brings two of the most important tournaments on the DP World Tour calendar.
First is the Abu Dhabi Aldar Championship, taking place at Yas Links Abu Dhabi from 5–8 November.
The tournament brings together the leading 70 available players from the Race to Dubai rankings, with the top 50 progressing to the season finale.
That finale is the DP World Tour Championship, held on the Earth Course at Jumeirah Golf Estates from 12–15 November.
Both events form part of the prestigious Rolex Series, offering substantial prize funds and bringing some of golf's biggest names to the UAE.
It's an exciting opportunity for spectators, but we think it's equally good news for golfers planning their own holidays.
After all, how many destinations allow you to watch the world's best players compete and then return to play those same championship courses on your next visit?

Yas Links: Championship Golf Beside the Arabian Gulf
Yas Links has become one of the most recognisable tournament venues in the Middle East.
Designed by Kyle Phillips, the course brings traditional links-style golf to the shores of Yas Island, with rolling fairways, deep bunkers, native grasses and spectacular coastal views.
It's particularly interesting because it offers something quite different from the desert-style golf many visitors associate with the UAE.
The exposed coastal setting means wind can become a major factor, while the closing holes alongside the water provide a genuinely memorable finish.
For us, Yas Links is one of the courses that should be near the top of any Abu Dhabi golf itinerary.
It's also ideally located for visitors wanting to combine their golf with Yas Island's hotels, restaurants and attractions.

Jumeirah Golf Estates: Where the Race to Dubai Is Won
A week later, attention moves to Dubai and the Earth Course at Jumeirah Golf Estates.
Designed by Greg Norman, Earth has hosted the DP World Tour Championship since 2009 and is renowned for its immaculate conditioning, dramatic bunkering and demanding finishing stretch.
The 18th hole, with water running alongside the fairway and towards the green, has produced plenty of memorable tournament moments over the years.
It's the sort of finishing hole where even the best players in the world can find themselves facing a difficult decision.
Jumeirah Golf Estates also has the Fire Course, which offers a contrasting experience with its more natural desert-style landscape.
We'd recommend playing both during a Dubai golf holiday.
Earth delivers the championship atmosphere, while Fire provides an equally enjoyable but different challenge.

Golf Participation Is Growing Across the UAE
The latest figures released by golf management company Viya suggest that interest in golf continues to grow across both Abu Dhabi and Dubai.
In Abu Dhabi, combined membership across Yas Links and Saadiyat Beach Golf Club has increased by 30%, while Yas Acres Golf & Country Club has recorded increased green-fee revenue.
Dubai is experiencing similar demand.
Dubai Creek Golf & Yacht Club has reported a 25% increase in membership compared with the same period in 2025, while Jumeirah Golf Estates is operating at full membership with an active waiting list.
Those figures are encouraging because they show that the popularity of UAE golf extends well beyond the professional tournament calendar.
More people are playing, clubs are attracting new members and investment continues across some of the region's most prestigious venues.
For travelling golfers, that also reinforces the importance of organising tee times well in advance, particularly during the popular winter months.

Why We Recommend Dubai and Abu Dhabi for Winter Golf
One of the UAE's biggest advantages is its climate.
From October through to April, conditions are generally excellent for golf, with warm sunshine and temperatures far more comfortable than the extreme summer heat.
For UK golfers, it's an attractive alternative to spending the winter wondering whether their home course will be open at the weekend.
But the quality of the golf is what really makes the journey worthwhile.
In Dubai, you can combine Jumeirah Golf Estates with the iconic Emirates Golf Club and Dubai Creek Golf & Yacht Club.
Abu Dhabi offers Yas Links, Saadiyat Beach Golf Club and Abu Dhabi Golf Club, alongside the shorter floodlit experience at Yas Acres.
Both cities also have outstanding luxury hotels, beaches, restaurants and attractions, making them particularly suitable for couples and mixed groups.
You can enjoy some of the world's best championship golf without the entire holiday needing to revolve around golf.
Our Verdict
The return of the DP World Tour Play-Offs is another reminder of just how important the UAE has become to international golf.
Three Rolex Series tournaments will have taken place in the country during 2026, beginning with the Hero Dubai Desert Classic in January and concluding with November's events in Abu Dhabi and Dubai.
But for us, the growing demand for everyday golf is just as significant as the professional tournaments.
The UAE isn't simply somewhere the world's best players visit for a few weeks each year.
It's a destination offering outstanding golf experiences throughout the winter, with continually improving facilities and a fantastic choice of luxury accommodation.
Whether you want to follow the professionals at Yas Links and Jumeirah Golf Estates or create your own championship golf itinerary, Dubai and Abu Dhabi remain two of our strongest recommendations for a winter-sun golf holiday.
Just remember to book those tee times early.
