Antognolla Golf offers a memorable combination of championship golf, dramatic scenery and centuries of Umbrian history. Located north of Perugia within a secluded countryside estate, the 18-hole, par-71 course was designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr and measures 6,112 metres from the back tees.

The layout makes excellent use of the surrounding landscape. Long fairways travel between wooded hills and steep cliffs, while elevation changes, carefully positioned bunkers and water hazards create a strong risk-and-reward challenge. Wide, undulating greens provide generous targets in places, but their slopes mean that finding the correct section can be essential for protecting your score.

Antognolla is challenging enough to test experienced golfers while remaining enjoyable for higher handicappers who choose suitable tees and manage the course sensibly. Its most recognisable feature is the imposing 12th-century Antognolla Castle, which overlooks the estate and provides a spectacular landmark throughout the round.

The course underwent a major renovation in 2018 under the supervision of its original designer. The work included refurbished bunkers and upgraded irrigation and drainage systems, helping the course provide year-round play. A modern driving range and extensive buggy paths were also added as part of the continued investment.

Golfers can enjoy refreshments and traditional Umbrian flavours at the estate’s La Boiola restaurant. Beyond the course, Perugia, Assisi and Umbria’s hilltop towns, vineyards and olive groves make Antognolla an excellent base for a longer Italian golf holiday.
