Golf Club Le Fonti is an 18-hole parkland course in Castel San Pietro Terme, around 20 kilometres from Bologna. Set within the Sillaro Valley and surrounded by gentle hills, lakes and mature trees, it offers a peaceful golfing experience close to the town’s thermal spas and medieval centre.

Opened in 1999 and designed by Ivano Serrantoni, the course plays to a par of 72 and measures 6,480 metres. Its varied layout has been created to suit golfers of different standards, with generous landing areas balanced by water hazards, bunkers and strategically positioned greens. The changing terrain and mixture of shorter and longer holes encourage thoughtful course management rather than relying solely on distance.

The course’s fairways are laid with Bermuda grass, helping to provide strong playing conditions throughout the year. Golf Club Le Fonti has also hosted several important tournaments, including Ladies European Tour qualifying events, Alps Tour competitions and the Italian National Professional Open Championship. Despite those tournament credentials, the course remains approachable for improving golfers and mixed-handicap groups.

Practice facilities include a driving range with more than 25 hitting positions, including covered and floodlit bays. Golfers can also use putting, pitching and chipping greens, a practice bunker and the club’s golf academy, where individual and group coaching is available. Buggies, clubs and manual or electric trolleys can be hired on site.

The clubhouse includes changing rooms, a pro shop, bar and Le Fonti Restaurant, which serves dishes inspired by Emilia-Romagna’s local food traditions. An outdoor swimming pool and gym add further options away from the course, while nearby attractions include Bologna, Imola, the thermal baths of Castel San Pietro and the hilltop village of Dozza.
