Golf Salsomaggiore Terme is an attractive 18-hole course set among the rolling hills outside the spa town of Salsomaggiore Terme, near Parma. Occupying around 70 hectares of peaceful Emilia-Romagna countryside, the course enjoys far-reaching views across a green valley, with woodland, lakes and the surrounding hills creating a wonderfully natural setting for golf.
Designed by Carlo Quintelli and opened in 1992, the par-72 layout measures 5,761 metres and sits approximately 360 metres above sea level. Its undulating fairways follow the natural shape of the land, producing regular changes in elevation and a variety of uphill, downhill and sidehill shots.
Three lakes influence play on five holes, adding both visual appeal and strategic interest. Although the course is not especially long by modern standards, several technical holes reward accurate positioning, careful club selection and good distance control. Golfers who miss the preferred side of a fairway can face awkward approaches from sloping ground, while bunkers, water and well-maintained greens provide a fair challenge for experienced players. Different teeing options also make the course accessible to improving golfers and mixed-ability groups.
Practice facilities include a 15-position driving range with five covered bays, together with pitching, chipping and putting greens. Golf carts, rental clubs and manual or electric trolleys are available, while the clubhouse provides changing rooms, a pro shop, bar, restaurant and seasonal swimming pool. Golf tuition can also be arranged for individuals and groups.
The course is well placed for combining golf with the thermal spas and Art Nouveau architecture of Salsomaggiore Terme, as well as the celebrated food and wine of the Parma region. A small guest house located within the clubhouse also provides convenient on-site accommodation for short golf breaks.

The surrounding hills are dotted with historic strongholds known as the Castles of Salt. Scipione, Contignaco and Tabiano are among the most interesting nearby examples, each connected to the powerful families that once controlled the area’s valuable salt wells.
Food is another major part of the experience. Salsomaggiore lies within Parma’s celebrated Food Valley, placing visitors close to producers of Parmigiano Reggiano, Prosciutto di Parma, regional wines and fresh pasta.
