Golf Club Biella

Bardonecchia

average rating is 3 out of 5

Golf Club Biella, better known as Le Betulle, is a classic parkland course set among the wooded slopes of the Serra moraine in Piedmont. Designed by English architect John Morrison and established during the late 1950s, the 18-hole, par-73 course measures 6,534 metres from the back tees. Its peaceful setting, mature trees and views towards the Alps create a distinctly traditional atmosphere, making it an excellent choice for golfers who value thoughtful course design over resort-style distractions.

The layout follows the natural movement of the land, with rolling fairways, elevation changes, strategic bunkering and occasional water hazards shaping the challenge. Accuracy is more important than raw distance, as drives must be placed carefully to open up the best angles into the greens. Rocky outcrops and mature birch woodland add further character, while the variety of par threes, demanding par fours and reachable par fives ensures that every part of a golfer’s game is tested. Visitor reviews regularly praise the course’s conditioning, tranquil surroundings and authentic clubhouse atmosphere.

Le Betulle also has a notable tournament history. Rory McIlroy won the European Amateur Championship here in 2006, recording a course-record round of 65. Today, golfers can prepare for their round using a driving range with grass and mat hitting areas, a two-level putting green, and dedicated chipping and bunker facilities.

The on-site Golf Hotel Le Betulle and clubhouse restaurant make the course especially convenient for a stay-and-play golf holiday in Piedmont. For a longer itinerary, it can be combined with Golf Club Cavaglià, Circolo Golf Torino La Mandria and Royal Park I Roveri. Away from the course, visitors can explore Biella, Lake Viverone and Piedmont’s celebrated food and wine, creating a relaxed Italian golf break that works particularly well for couples and small groups.
