May to September is our favourite time for a Denmark golf holiday, with milder temperatures, long daylight hours and excellent conditions for combining golf with sightseeing. Golf can be played through much of the year, although winter greens are common between November and April and snow can occasionally affect play.
Copenhagen and Zealand are excellent for combining golf with restaurants, nightlife and sightseeing, while Funen is ideal for Great Northern and a quieter island escape. Jutland has some of Denmark’s greatest variety, including Lübker, Silkeborg, Holstebro and Esbjerg, so it works particularly well for a longer self-drive golf itinerary.
Denmark has more than 200 courses, with everything from woodland and parkland layouts to open, wind-exposed courses influenced by the coast. You will also find modern championship designs from names such as Nicklaus Design and Robert Trent Jones II. Courses are generally close together, making it easy to play several different styles during one holiday.
Yes. Denmark has courses suitable for a wide range of abilities, and many venues also offer shorter courses, academies or Pay & Play golf. Lübker, for example, has a 9-hole Academy Course that does not require a golf licence. Some championship courses do apply handicap restrictions, so we will check the requirements for every course in your itinerary before you travel.
For Copenhagen or a single-resort stay, we recommend around 4–5 nights with two or three rounds of golf. If you want to combine Copenhagen, Funen and Jutland, allow 7–10 nights so you can enjoy several courses without rushing between destinations.
Denmark is a straightforward short-haul destination, with Copenhagen providing the main gateway for Zealand and Funen, while Billund is particularly useful for golf holidays in Jutland. Once you arrive, Denmark’s compact size and good road network make self-drive and multi-centre golf holidays easy to organise.
Requirements vary between clubs. Guest golfers are welcomed at most Danish courses, but some championship venues have handicap limits or require proof of an official handicap. Plenty. Copenhagen brings Nyhavn, Tivoli, restaurants, shopping and waterfront neighbourhoods, while Funen offers pretty towns, countryside and island scenery. Jutland adds beaches, nature, historic towns and relaxed coastal exploring. Denmark is particularly good for couples and groups where not everyone wants to spend every day on the golf course.
