The Scandinavian offers a very different style of golf accommodation from a traditional resort hotel. Located in Farum, around 25 minutes from central Copenhagen, the club has an exclusive on-site guesthouse positioned beside the second hole of the Old Course. For us, it is a particularly good option for small golf groups who want to stay right in the middle of the golf experience while still keeping Copenhagen within easy reach.
The guesthouse can accommodate up to eight guests across four rooms, with a shared kitchen and everything set up around a relaxed stay-and-play break. Rather than returning to a busy hotel after your round, you stay in peaceful surroundings directly beside the course, making it easy to settle into the rhythm of the club for a couple of days. Extra nights can also be added on request, giving you the flexibility to build a longer golf stay around both championship courses.
Golf is naturally the main reason to stay. The Scandinavian has 36 holes across the Old Course and New Course, both designed by Robert Trent Jones II Golf Course Architects. The Old Course stretches to 6,361 metres from the back tees and places a premium on accuracy, with water featuring on every par 3 and fast, undulating greens adding to the challenge. The New Course has a tighter visual feel, with narrow fairways and strategic bunkering making good course management particularly important.
Staying on site means you can enjoy both courses without organising daily transfers, while practice facilities, a Pro Shop and professional coaching are also available. The clubhouse is another major part of the experience. Designed by Henning Larsen Architects, it provides an impressive setting for relaxing after golf, with café and restaurant dining available for guests.
We particularly like The Scandinavian for golfers who want a quieter, more exclusive alternative to a conventional city golf break. You can spend the day playing two contrasting courses, return to the guesthouse afterwards, and still head into Copenhagen for an evening or extend the trip with time in the capital.

Copenhagen is Denmark’s strongest city base for a golf holiday, combining stylish urban life, easy airport access and a surprisingly good choice of courses close to the centre. It works especially well for golfers who want more than a resort stay: play during the day, then enjoy harbourfront dining, cycling, museums, bars and classic Nordic city charm in the evening.
The most historic option is Copenhagen Golf Club, located in Dyrehaven north of the city. Founded in 1898, it is described as Denmark’s and Scandinavia’s first golf club, and in 1928 it created Denmark’s first 18-hole golf course. The setting is a major part of the appeal, with parkland, wildlife and mature trees giving the round a very distinctive feel.
Closer to the city, Royal Golf Club offers a modern championship course just minutes from central Copenhagen. Visit Copenhagen describes it as an international championship course designed by Ron Kirby, located near the Bella Sky Hotel, making it a very convenient option for city-based golf groups.
For a more premium multi-course experience, The Scandinavian in Farum is one of Denmark’s standout golf venues. Located around 25 minutes from Copenhagen, it offers two courses with 36 varied holes, designed by Bruce Charlton of Robert Trent Jones II Golf Architects.
Golf around Copenhagen is best from May to September, when the weather is milder, daylight is long and course conditions are generally at their strongest.
Off the course, Copenhagen is brilliant for a short break. Visit Copenhagen highlights the city’s compact centre, canals, museums, royal palaces, Tivoli Gardens and easy day trips to beaches, castles and nearby towns. Nyhavn, Tivoli, the harbour baths, food markets and cycling culture all add to the experience.
