The Itinerary

Day 1 – Departure from Pretoria (Rovos Rail)

Your journey begins in Pretoria where you board the world-renowned Rovos Rail. After a warm welcome and check-in to your luxury suite, the train departs, marking the start of your unforgettable golf safari.


Spend the afternoon settling in as you travel in style through the South African countryside. Enjoy fine dining in the elegant dining cars, relax in the lounge, or take in panoramic views from the observation deck.


Day 2 – Sun City & Pilanesberg

Arrive in the Sun City region where golfers will play either the Gary Player Country Club or Lost City Golf Course, both ranked among South Africa’s finest.


Non-golfers will enjoy a safari experience in Pilanesberg National Park, home to the Big Five. After the day’s activities, return to the train and continue your journey.


Day 3 – Drakensberg Mountains / Spionkop

Travel through the spectacular Drakensberg Mountains, one of South Africa’s most dramatic landscapes, before arriving at Spionkop.


Golfers can play at Champagne Sports Resort, while non-golfers can explore the region’s rich history, including Anglo-Boer War battlefields, or enjoy guided nature activities.


Day 4 – Scenic Rail Journey

A full day on board Rovos Rail allows you to fully experience the luxury train journey. As you travel through changing landscapes, enjoy the relaxed pace of life on board.

Day 5 – Durban & Indian Ocean Coast

Arrive in Durban, where golfers can play at leading courses such as Durban Country Club, Beachwood, or Zimbali.


Non-golfers will enjoy a guided city tour, including the botanical gardens and coastal highlights. Return to the train in the afternoon as the journey continues.


Day 6 – Hluhluwe Game Reserve (Safari)

Today brings one of the highlights of the trip with a safari in Hluhluwe, one of Africa’s oldest and most renowned game reserves.


Both golfers and non-golfers will enjoy game viewing, with opportunities to see rhino, elephant, and other iconic wildlife. Return to the train for the evening.


Day 7 – Mkhaya Game Reserve (Eswatini)

Cross into Eswatini (Swaziland) and visit Mkhaya Game Reserve, a sanctuary for endangered species.


This intimate safari experience offers a different perspective on African wildlife, with expert guides leading you through this unique conservation area.


Day 8 – Kruger Region (Malelane Golf & Safari)
