This is a world-class golf resort and much more besides. There's a superb hotel on the Atlantic Beach, an impressive spa, a top tennis academy, perfect villas for rent and plenty of shops and restaurants...All wrapped up into a "gated community" where everyone is relaxed and having fun. And of course, Kiawah Island is the scene of the famous 1991 "War by the shore" Ryder Cup. The Sanctuary is a five star hotel with 255 top bedrooms-all but 18 of which look out onto the beach. The hotel has two restaurants - a fine dining experience and a superb brasserie. Breakfast is ideal and there's even an ice-cream parlour should you fancy a treat. The three restaurants, Piano Bar and terrace are very classy and there's a quality choice of boutiques too. A very elegant and welcoming affair.
