Barsebäck Golf & Country Club
Hofterup
Barsebäck Golf & Country Club, now marketed as Barsebäck Resort, is one of southern Sweden’s leading golf venues. Situated beside the Öresund in Skåne, the resort offers two contrasting 18-hole courses and convenient access from both Malmö and Copenhagen.
The par-73 Ocean Course is Barsebäck’s championship layout. Its character changes throughout the round, progressing from mature woodland and parkland into exposed, links-inspired holes beside the Öresund. Coastal winds, strategic bunkering and water hazards ensure that conditions can alter the challenge considerably from one day to the next. The course has hosted elite professional golf on numerous occasions, and its full championship tees extend to more than 7,000 metres.
The par-71 Pine Course provides an enjoyable contrast. Routed through established pine woodland and attractive Scanian countryside, it is slightly more sheltered than the Ocean Course but still demands accurate positioning. Trees, water hazards and changing terrain place greater emphasis on control than outright distance, making the two courses a strong combination for a 36-hole golf break.
Practice and coaching facilities include a driving range, PGA-qualified professionals, a dedicated Performance Centre and indoor TrackMan golf. Golf buggies are available to hire, while halfway houses serve both courses during the main season.
Barsebäck also offers on-site hotel rooms and villas, allowing golfers to stay close to the first tees. Golf packages can combine rounds on both courses with breakfast and dinner at Brasserie Barsebäck. The restaurant overlooks the Öresund, providing a scenic setting for an evening meal after golf.
The resort’s location makes it especially accessible for golfers from the UK. Copenhagen Airport provides the broadest choice of international flights, with the journey crossing the Öresund Bridge into Sweden. Malmö Airport is another option, particularly for Scandinavian connections.

About The Area
Hofterup is a quiet locality in western Skåne, positioned between Malmö, Lund and the Öresund coast. It is not a big resort town, but for golfers it has serious value because it sits right beside one of Sweden’s best-known golf venues, while still offering easy access to beaches, nature reserves and city life. Hofterup is in Kävlinge Municipality, Skåne County, and is closely linked with Barsebäck’s coastal golf scene.
The main draw is Barsebäck Resort, a major Swedish golf facility established in 1969 with accommodation, food, activities and views over the Öresund. The resort offers 36 holes, including 18 holes of true championship class, plus PGA-certified professionals, a Performance Centre and indoor golf facilities. Its classic tour course, the Ocean Course, gives golfers that proper coastal test, with sea views, exposed holes and wind as a real factor. The Pine Course adds contrast, moving through more sheltered tree-lined terrain, which makes the resort ideal for a two-round stay rather than a one-course visit.
Golf around Hofterup is best from May to September, when Skåne’s long daylight hours and milder weather make for comfortable rounds. Spring and early autumn can also be excellent, especially for golfers wanting quieter tee times.
Off the course, Hofterup is well placed for a relaxed southern Sweden trip. Järavallen Nature Reserve sits nearby, while the Öresund coast gives access to beaches, walks and sea views. Skåne’s wider appeal is its mix of coastal scenery, cycling, food, countryside and city breaks, with Malmö and Lund both close enough for easy evenings out or cultural day trips.
For golfers seeking championship golf, coastal scenery and a calm base close to Malmö, Hofterup is a small place with a genuinely strong golf pull.
