The National

Bara

average rating is 4 out of 5

The National is one of Sweden’s leading golf resorts, set in Bara just outside Malmö in the Skåne region. For a Sweden golf holiday, it offers a brilliant mix of championship golf, on-site accommodation, strong practice facilities and easy access from both Malmö and Copenhagen, making it a very practical choice for UK golfers. The resort describes itself as Sweden’s National Golf Arena, with two 18-hole courses, the Lakes Course and Links Course, plus a 9-hole Academy Course and driving range.

The Lakes Course brings a polished parkland feel, with water, shaping and tournament pedigree giving it a real big-course atmosphere. It was inaugurated in 2010 by Peter Hanson and architect Kyle Phillips, and hosted the Nordea Masters in 2014 and 2015. The Links Course offers a different challenge, with open landscapes, fescue-style presentation and a more exposed feel that rewards creativity, distance control and smart shot selection. The resort’s Academy Course is also useful for short-game practice or a relaxed extra round, with nine full-length par-3 holes maintained to the same standard as the main courses.

For a golf holiday in southern Sweden, The National works beautifully as a stay-and-play base or as part of a wider Skåne itinerary alongside other excellent courses around Malmö and the Öresund region. Hashtag Golf Travel can help build the trip around the right flights, hotels, transfers and tee times, creating a smooth Scandinavian golf break with plenty of quality golf built in.

About The Area

Kutná Hora is one of Czechia’s most atmospheric golf bases, combining historic streets, Gothic architecture and easy access to countryside courses within reach of Prague. Once a wealthy silver-mining town, Kutná Hora’s historic centre, including the Church of St Barbara and the Church of Our Lady at Sedlec, is recognised by UNESCO as an outstanding example of a medieval town shaped by silver mining wealth.

The most premium nearby golf venue is Casa Serena Chateau and Golf Resort, located near Kutná Hora in Central Bohemia, around 53km from Prague. Its course is an 18-hole, par-71 layout measuring 6,364 metres, and the resort notes that it has hosted European Senior Tour events. It is a high-end, selective venue, so access should be checked before packaging it for clients.

For a more accessible round, Golf Club Molitorov near Kouřim is a useful option in the wider Kutná Hora area. Visit Czechia describes it as an 18-hole course spread over 60 hectares, partly routed through orchards, with a quiet countryside setting close to Prague. The club itself notes that the first nine holes run through a cherry orchard, while the second nine sits on a flatter open plain with longer holes and landing-area hazards.

Golf around Kutná Hora is best from April to October, with May to September usually offering the most comfortable weather and longer daylight.

Off the course, Kutná Hora is brilliant for culture-led travel. St Barbara’s Cathedral is the town’s symbol, while Sedlec Ossuary, the Italian Court and the old silver-mining heritage give the destination real depth. Visit Czechia describes Kutná Hora as the “city of silver” and notes its UNESCO status since 1995.

For golfers seeking scenic Czech countryside, historic sightseeing and easy Prague access, Kutná Hora is a charming and very useful Central Bohemian golf base.
