Dundonald Links Lodges
Irvine
Dundonald Links Lodges are one of our favourite accommodation options on the Ayrshire coast for golf groups who want space, comfort and championship golf right outside the door. Purpose-built with golfers in mind, the lodges sit alongside Dundonald Links and offer a modern alternative to a traditional golf hotel, while keeping you perfectly placed for some of the best courses in western Scotland.
The lodges are available with two, four or six bedrooms, making them ideal for everything from smaller groups to larger golf trips. Each bedroom has its own en-suite bathroom and can generally be arranged as either a twin or double, giving groups plenty of flexibility. The interiors are bright and contemporary, with generous open-plan living areas that create a brilliant social space once everyone is back from the course.
We particularly like how well the lodges have been designed around a golf break. Each has a fully fitted kitchen, large dining area and dedicated golf equipment storage room, so there is no need to have clubs and travel bags taking over the living space. Large TVs with Sky Sports, fast Wi-Fi and outdoor patio areas with barbecues make it easy to settle in for the evening, while the larger six-bedroom lodges even include a pool table.
One of the best touches is the practice putting greens positioned amongst the lodge clusters. Having somewhere to roll a few putts before breakfast or settle a friendly competition after dinner feels exactly right at a dedicated golf resort.
The main reason to stay, of course, is Dundonald Links itself. Designed by Kyle Phillips, the par-72 championship links has hosted major professional events including the Scottish Open and Women's Scottish Open. Rolling fairways, deep bunkering, gorse and large contoured greens provide a proper test of links golf, while the Ayrshire wind can make the course play completely differently from one day to the next.
The modern clubhouse is only moments away and is a great place for breakfast, dinner or a post-round drink. If you would rather stay in, the kitchens and outdoor areas make self-catering easy.
Dundonald's location is another huge advantage. Royal Troon, Western Gailes, Prestwick and several other outstanding Ayrshire courses are all nearby, making the lodges an excellent base for a longer Scottish golf tour.
For us, Dundonald Links Lodges are particularly hard to beat for groups wanting high-quality accommodation without losing the social side of a golf trip.
