Club Campestre Armenia Golf Club is a beautiful 18-hole course in Colombia’s Coffee Region, located between Armenia and La Tebaida in the department of Quindío. Tropical plants, bamboo groves, fruit trees and rolling green hills create a colourful setting, while the course’s position near coffee farms makes it a natural addition to a wider golf holiday through the Eje Cafetero.

The course plays to a par of 71 and measures 6,517 yards from the longest tees. Its naturally undulating layout features dips, raised sections and changing lies, so golfers regularly face shots with the ball above or below their feet. The fairways are generally generous, but the uneven ground and partially hidden greens can make judging direction and distance surprisingly tricky.

Water is one of the course’s defining features. Four large lakes influence several holes, while strategically placed cross bunkers place extra pressure on drives and approach shots. Trees also play an important role, particularly the bamboo and low-branched fruit trees found around the rough. An inaccurate drive may therefore leave a restricted swing or force golfers to play sideways rather than attack the green.

The layout rewards accuracy, positioning and thoughtful course management more than pure distance. Lower-handicap golfers will enjoy working out the best angles into the greens, while wider fairways and a manageable overall length help make the course enjoyable for improving players. Armenia’s moderate altitude also gives shots a little more carry than they would receive at sea level, although the effect is less dramatic than on Bogotá’s much higher courses.

Practice facilities include a driving range, Pitch & Putt areas and an illuminated putting green. The club also runs a golf academy with coaching programmes for children, teenagers and developing players, while regular competitions include the long-established Cafetero Open.
