Club Campestre Pereira Golf Club is an 18-hole course in Colombia’s Coffee Region, located at Cerritos on the road between Pereira and Cartago. Surrounded by tropical vegetation, rolling countryside and the green landscapes associated with the Eje Cafetero, it offers a relaxed parkland setting around 20 minutes from central Pereira.

The course was designed by Pete Dye and opened in 1979. It plays to a par of 71 and stretches to approximately 6,981 yards from the longest tees. Its routing follows the natural movement of the land, with changing elevations, mature trees, water hazards and carefully defended greens creating a technical challenge without relying entirely on length.

Golfers will find a mixture of generous-looking drives and more demanding approach shots. The fairways use Bermuda 419 grass, while the greens are surfaced with Tift Ton Dwarf, helping provide reliable playing conditions in Pereira’s warm climate. The course’s slopes and varied lies reward sensible positioning, particularly when approaching greens protected by water, sand or natural run-off areas.

One of the best-known holes is the seventh, nicknamed El Tobogán, or “The Slide”. Its dramatic changes in elevation make distance judgement and club selection particularly important. The course is also known for the capybaras that can sometimes be seen wandering beside the fairways, adding a very Colombian touch to the round.

The club’s golf facilities were remodelled in 2023 under the direction of Alberto Valenzuela. Alongside the main course, golfers can use a six-hole par-three course, a nine-hole mini-course, an illuminated 270-yard practice range, an illuminated short-game area and a 600-square-metre floodlit putting green. Six certified golf professionals support coaching programmes for adults, juniors and beginners.

Club Campestre Pereira has staged important national and international competitions, including PGA Latinoamérica events, Colombian Opens and regional Coffee Region tournaments.
