Dubai Creek Golf & Yacht Club
Dubai
Dubai Creek Golf & Yacht Club is an iconic waterfront golf destination beside the historic Dubai Creek. Palm-lined fairways, lakes, sculpted bunkers and views of the city skyline create a green oasis close to central Dubai. The club is also instantly recognisable for its sail-shaped clubhouse, which was inspired by the traditional Arabian dhow.
Opened in 1993, the championship course was designed by American golf architect Karl Litten. The 18-hole layout plays to a par of 71 and measures 7,009 yards from its longest tees. Several shorter teeing options allow golfers to select a distance that suits their ability, making the course enjoyable for holiday golfers as well as experienced low-handicap players.
The course begins away from the main Creek shoreline, with palm trees, bunkers, lakes and carefully shaped mounds guiding golfers towards each green. Fairways provide reasonable space in places, but position remains important. Drives played to the correct side create a clearer approach, while an inaccurate shot can leave water, sand or trees blocking the best route to the flag.
Water becomes increasingly important as the round develops. Lakes protect several greens, while Dubai Creek itself provides the main threat during the famous closing holes. Changes in wind direction can make club selection difficult, particularly when playing towards the exposed sections beside the water. The smooth putting surfaces and closely cut surrounds also place plenty of pressure on distance control and the short game.
The par-four 17th follows the Creek, with water guarding the entire left side of the fairway. Golfers must decide how closely they are prepared to follow the shoreline to create a shorter approach. Playing too safely towards the right can leave a more difficult angle, while a pulled drive may disappear directly into the water.
The 18th provides one of the most memorable finishes to a golf course in Dubai. The 423-yard par four bends around the Creek, with water threatening the drive before golfers face another carry towards the green. It is a genuine risk-and-reward hole where one loose swing can completely change the scorecard. The dramatic closing challenge was demonstrated during the 2024 Dubai Invitational, when the water played an important part in the tournament’s final result.
Dubai Creek has a strong professional tournament history. It hosted the Dubai Desert Classic in 1999 and 2000 before returning to the DP World Tour calendar for the Dubai Invitational in 2024 and 2026. These events have helped maintain its reputation as one of the UAE’s best-known championship courses.
Practice facilities are based around the Peter Cowen Academy and include a 36-bay driving range, two short-game areas and measured targets. Coaching programmes are available for beginners, juniors and experienced golfers. Visitors can book tee times, with standard green fees including shared buggy use and access to the driving range for one hour before the round, subject to the club’s seasonal operating arrangements.
Away from the course, the resort includes a 121-berth marina, fitness and leisure facilities, the five-star Park Hyatt Dubai and several dining choices. Lakeview overlooks the golf course, Boardwalk serves Mediterranean-inspired food beside the Creek, and QD’s offers relaxed waterfront dining with views across the city.
At Hashtag Golf Travel, we recommend Dubai Creek Golf & Yacht Club for golfers who want championship golf without travelling far from the centre of Dubai. The course is attractive and playable through its opening holes before building towards a superb final stretch beside the Creek. Its proximity to the airport also makes it an excellent choice for an arrival-day round, a final game before flying home or a central part of a wider Dubai golf holiday.

About The Area
Al Zorah is a standout choice for a UAE golf holiday if your group wants winter sun, luxury resort surroundings and a quieter alternative to staying in central Dubai. Set in Ajman, around mangroves, lagoons and white-sand beaches, it gives golfers a more peaceful coastal feel while still keeping Dubai and Sharjah within easy reach.
For golf, the main draw is Al Zorah Golf & Yacht Club, an 18-hole championship course designed by Nicklaus Design and managed by Troon Golf. The course sits within protected mangroves, which gives it a very different look and feel from many desert golf courses in the UAE. Expect wide fairways, water, natural tidal areas and a layout that feels scenic rather than artificial. For groups wanting quality golf with a relaxed luxury feel, this is one of the UAE’s most interesting options.
Away from the course, Al Zorah works brilliantly for a slower, more premium golf break. We would recommend time at the beach, kayaking through the mangroves, a spa day, waterfront dining, or a trip into Ajman for souqs, museums and the Corniche. Al Zorah City also includes a championship golf course, beach resort, wellbeing resort, natural mangrove reserve and restaurants, so it suits couples and mixed groups as well as serious golfers.
Our tip: choose Al Zorah if your group wants a UAE golf holiday with sunshine, luxury, nature and easy access to Dubai without the full city pace.
