The Montgomerie Maxx Royal Golf Club

Belek

average rating is 5 out of 5

The Montgomerie Maxx Royal Golf Club is one of Belek’s premier championship venues, offering a beautifully maintained course with an impressive professional tournament history. Set across 104 hectares of pine forest and naturally sandy ridges near Turkey’s Mediterranean coast, it combines striking scenery with strategic golf that rewards careful planning from the opening tee to the final green.

Designed by Ryder Cup legend Colin Montgomerie in partnership with European Golf Design, the 18-hole, par-72 course measures 6,522 metres from the championship tees. Its broad fairways may appear inviting, but 54 bunkers, seven lakes, a stream and large areas of sandy wasteland ensure that inaccurate or overly ambitious shots can be heavily punished.

Golfers who position their drives correctly will benefit from clearer approaches, while shots from the wrong side of the fairway can bring trees, water and difficult greenside bunkers into play. The course begins and ends with challenging par fives, creating opportunities for confident players to attack while still demanding sensible course management. Multiple teeing options make the layout enjoyable for mixed-handicap groups, although the championship tees provide a stern test for experienced golfers.

Holes 10 to 18 are floodlit, allowing visiting golfers to enjoy night golf and continue playing after the heat of the day has faded. The club has also hosted several editions of the Turkish Airlines Open, welcoming leading players including Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy, Brooks Koepka and Tyrrell Hatton.

Practice facilities cover full-swing shots, putting, chipping, pitching and bunker play, with private tuition available through the golf academy. After the round, golfers can enjoy food and drinks on the clubhouse terrace overlooking the 18th hole or visit its distinctive 30-metre viewing tower for panoramic views towards the Taurus Mountains and Mediterranean Sea.

Away from golf, Belek offers sandy beaches, resort spas and restaurants, while the Roman theatre at Aspendos and the ancient coastal town of Side are excellent options for a day between rounds.

About The Area

Belek is one of Europe’s strongest golf holiday destinations, especially for UK golfers looking for sunshine, excellent hotels and a huge choice of courses in one easy resort area. Set on Turkey’s Mediterranean coast near Antalya, it is purpose-built for golf holidays, with luxury all-inclusive resorts, beach clubs, spas, restaurants and transfers that make the whole trip feel simple from the moment you land.

Golf is the main event here. Belek is recognised as a global golf destination, with 10 golf clubs and 15 international-standard courses, plus year-round play and hundreds of thousands of rounds played each year. Big-name options include Carya Golf Club, a heathland-style course set in pine forest and famous for floodlit golf, where the lights are designed so players can follow the ball as they would in daylight. Antalya Golf Club adds the popular Pasha and PGA Sultan courses, with the Sultan offering a par-71, 6,477-metre championship test designed by European Golf Design and David Jones.

Away from the fairways, Belek works brilliantly for relaxed resort days, beach time, spa treatments and easy evenings around your hotel. It is also well placed for exploring Antalya, ancient ruins, waterfalls, boat trips and the wider Turkish Riviera.

For UK golfers, Belek is ideal for a tailor-made Turkey golf holiday, whether you want an all-inclusive group trip, a winter-sun golf break or a multi-course resort stay. Hashtag Golf Travel can help plan the right hotel, tee times, transfers and extras.
