Pattana Golf Club is an excellent choice for golfers looking for plenty of variety during a golf holiday in Thailand’s Eastern Seaboard. Located in Si Racha, Chonburi, the club sits within the extensive Pattana Sports Resort and offers 27 holes of championship golf surrounded by rolling countryside, lakes and distant mountain views. For us, it works particularly well as part of a longer Pattaya or Chonburi golf itinerary, especially if you want to play somewhere away from the busier coastal areas.

The golf is divided into three separate nine-hole layouts – Andreas, Brookei and Calypso – which can be combined to create different 18-hole rounds. This immediately gives Pattana an advantage for golfers planning more than one visit, as you can change the combination and enjoy a slightly different challenge each time.

Across the three nines, the course is characterised by undulating fairways, strategically positioned bunkers, water hazards and fast, well-defended greens. There are opportunities to open the shoulders with the driver, but we would not recommend simply attacking every hole. Finding the correct side of the fairway can make a huge difference to your approach, particularly where water or bunkering protects the easiest route into the green.

The changes in elevation are another feature we enjoy. Pattana is not an extreme mountain course, but the natural movement in the terrain creates plenty of uneven lies, elevated approaches and tee shots where you need to judge both distance and position carefully. The surrounding lakes and mountain views also give the course an attractive, spacious feel.

With 27 holes available, there is plenty here for different abilities. Higher-handicap golfers can choose suitable tees and enjoy the generous areas of the layout, while stronger players will find a much more demanding test from farther back. Pattana also regularly hosts amateur, junior and other competitive events, which gives you a good idea of the standard and versatility of the golf facilities.

Practice facilities have been upgraded with a driving range and dedicated short-game zone, making Pattana a particularly good option if you want to spend some time working on your game as well as playing.
