Lake View Golf Club

Hua Hin

average rating is 4 out of 5

Lake View Golf Club is one of the most varied golf venues around Hua Hin, offering 36 holes across four completely different nine-hole layouts. Set inland between Hua Hin and Cha-am, the club is surrounded by countryside, farms and pineapple plantations, giving it a peaceful atmosphere away from the busier coastal resorts. For us, the big attraction is the variety – you can play several rounds here and enjoy a noticeably different experience each time.

The four loops are the Mountain Course, Lake Course, Desert Course and Links Course. The original Mountain, Lake and Desert nines were designed by Roger Packard, while the Links Course was later created by Ronald Fream and David Dale. Different combinations can be used to create two full par-72 layouts, making Lake View particularly good for golfers staying in Hua Hin for several days.

The Mountain Course has a classic parkland feel, with mature trees, doglegs and undulating fairways creating plenty of decisions from the tee. Some approaches are partially hidden by the terrain and vegetation, so positioning your drive correctly can be much more important than simply chasing distance.

The Lake Course changes the challenge by bringing water more prominently into play. Lakes and streams shape several holes and demand good course management, particularly when attacking the greens. One of the most memorable features is the long par 3 played between island-style teeing and green areas, where there is very little room for hesitation once you have chosen your club.

The Desert Course is completely different again. Inspired by Arizona-style golf, it uses sand, rocks, scrub and cactus-style landscaping to create a much more rugged appearance. Bunkering is a major defence, and we find this nine rewards golfers who plot their way around rather than trying to overpower every hole.

The Links Course is the most open of the four. There are fewer trees, wider views and more exposure to the wind, which can completely change how holes play from one day to the next. Running approaches and careful distance control become especially useful when the breeze gets up.

Practice facilities include a grass driving range and short-game areas, while the clubhouse provides changing facilities, a Pro Shop, restaurant and somewhere comfortable to relax after your round. Lake View Resort and Golf Club is also located on site, making it easy to turn your visit into a stay-and-play break.

For golfers who value variety, Lake View Golf Club is an excellent addition to a Hua Hin golf holiday. Speak to our Golf Travel Experts at Hashtag Golf Travel and we can include Lake View within a tailor-made itinerary alongside Hua Hin's other leading courses.

About The Area

Hua Hin has long been regarded as Thailand’s original seaside golf resort, combining royal heritage, relaxed coastal charm and one of the strongest clusters of championship courses in Southeast Asia. Located around three hours south of Bangkok, it offers a more refined and tranquil alternative to Pattaya while still delivering tournament-level golf.

The flagship venue is Black Mountain Golf Club, consistently ranked among Asia’s top courses. With dramatic rock formations, natural water hazards and immaculate conditioning, it has hosted multiple international tournaments and offers a true championship test. Nearby, Banyan Golf Club Hua Hin delivers panoramic mountain views, strategic bunkering and a memorable closing stretch that rewards precise approach play. Springfield Royal Country Club, designed by Jack Nicklaus, provides further variety with tree-lined fairways and a slightly more forgiving layout.

Golf in Hua Hin is characterised by wide fairways, bold bunkering and superb presentation. Caddie service is standard and enhances the premium feel, while practice facilities are strong across most clubs. The dry season from November to March offers the most comfortable playing conditions, with warm temperatures and lower humidity.

Off the course, Hua Hin maintains a relaxed seaside atmosphere. The night market is a highlight, offering fresh seafood and authentic Thai street food. Beachfront bars provide sunset views over the Gulf of Thailand, while nearby vineyards and national parks add scenic rest-day options. The town’s royal connections — including the historic Klai Kangwon Palace — give it a more understated and elegant feel compared to other Thai resort areas.

For golfers seeking elite championship layouts, dependable winter sunshine and a more relaxed coastal environment, Hua Hin delivers one of Thailand’s most complete and enjoyable golf escapes.
