The main attraction is the Murrayshall Course, an 18-hole championship parkland layout that has hosted a number of national events. Significant investment in recent years has modernised the course and given it more of an American-style parkland character, while still retaining the mature trees and natural landscape that make the estate so attractive.
We particularly like the risk-and-reward nature of the Murrayshall Course. There are opportunities to attack, but the safest route and the shortest route are not always the same. Mature trees frame many of the fairways, while strategic bunkering and the natural movement of the terrain encourage you to think carefully about positioning. Finding the correct side of the fairway can make the following approach considerably easier.
Alongside the championship course is the Lynedoch Course, a shorter parkland layout that offers a completely different challenge. The fairways are narrower and lined by tall Scots pine trees, placing a greater emphasis on accuracy. It is ideal if you want a quicker round during your stay, but we certainly would not treat it as an easy option. Missing the fairway can quickly leave you trying to manufacture a recovery from between the trees.
Having both courses available is one of the reasons Murrayshall works so well for a golf break. You can play the championship layout when you want a full test before heading onto Lynedoch for a more relaxed additional round.
Practice facilities include an expansive driving range, while PGA tuition is available for golfers looking to work on their game. Murrayshall is also developing its wider Golf Academy facilities, adding even more to what is already an excellent set-up for a dedicated golf stay.
After your round, Cairns Bar & Restaurant provides a relaxed clubhouse atmosphere for food and drinks, while Murrayshall Country Estate offers luxury accommodation directly alongside the golf.
