Mazagan Golf Club is one of Morocco’s standout coastal golf experiences, combining a Gary Player design with natural dunes, sweeping Atlantic views and a genuine links-style character. Designed by Gary Player, the 18-hole, par-72 course measures 6,885 metres from the back tees, making it one of the longest golf courses in Morocco. Multiple teeing positions mean you certainly do not need to tackle the full distance, however, and we think choosing the right tees is important if you want to properly enjoy what Player has created.

The natural landscape is a huge part of the experience. Fairways weave through existing dunes and valleys rather than feeling heavily manufactured, while the Atlantic breeze adds another challenge throughout the round. The fairways can look inviting from the tee, but strategically positioned bunkers, sandy waste areas and undulating greens mean good positioning is far more useful than simply trying to overpower the course.

We particularly like how the challenge builds towards the coastline. The closing section brings you increasingly close to the Atlantic, with the 15th, 16th and 18th providing some of the most memorable scenery on the course. The par-3 15th is a real highlight, played towards a raised green with the ocean creating a spectacular backdrop. When the wind is blowing, choosing the correct club can become every bit as difficult as hitting the shot itself.

Practice facilities are excellent. The resort has a 300-metre driving range, Golf Academy and TrackMan technology for golfers who want to work on their swing or sharpen up before their round. Club, trolley and buggy hire are also available, making it particularly straightforward for golfers travelling from the UK.

After golf, the clubhouse overlooks the Atlantic and includes changing facilities, a Pro Shop and George, where you can settle in for food and drinks with views across the course and coastline.
