Port St Mary Golf Club
Port St Mary
Port St Mary Golf Club is a charming coastal course and a lovely addition to an Isle of Man golf holiday, especially for UK golfers looking for a short-break destination with sea views, character and easy island travel. Set off Kallow Point Road in the fishing village of Port St Mary, the course enjoys panoramic views over Perwick Bay, Port St Mary harbour and Bay Ny Carrickey.
This is the Isle of Man’s only 9-hole course, but it still offers a full 18-hole experience when played from different tees. The course plays to a par 68 and is listed at 5,314 yards by Visit Isle of Man, with putting and practice net facilities available. Founded in 1903 and in its current location since 1936, the layout was designed by 1920 Open Champion George Duncan, giving this smaller course a genuine historic golf connection.
Port St Mary is not about overpowering length. The appeal comes from coastal winds, changing lies, firm fairways and the need to judge approach shots carefully. The view from the sixth tee is often highlighted as one of the best golf course views on the island, making it a memorable stop on any Manx golf itinerary.
For a golf break on the Isle of Man, Port St Mary works brilliantly alongside nearby Castletown Golf Links, King Edward Bay and Rowany. It is ideal for golfers who want a relaxed, scenic round with proper local charm.

About The Area
Port St Mary is a lovely choice for golfers who want an Isle of Man golf holiday with sea views, harbour charm and a quieter south-coast feel. Set on the island’s southern coast, it has a classic small-harbour setting, with Chapel Beach close to the village, cafés, toilets, independent shops, a pub, yacht club and harbour walks all nearby. From the beach, you can stroll over the “cat-walk” towards the inner and outer harbours, while the breakwater is also popular for pier fishing.
Golf is close rather than right in the village, which makes Port St Mary a peaceful base for a wider Isle of Man golf break. Rowany Golf Club in nearby Port Erin is the most convenient option, offering an 18-hole, par-70 course of 5,722 yards from the white tees. The club highlights the superb views from across the course, especially the 18th, where Port Erin Bay and the Irish Sea open up ahead of you.
For a bigger links test, Castletown Golf Links is also within easy reach on the Langness Peninsula. Surrounded by sea on three sides, it has roots connected to Old Tom Morris, with later design influence from Dr Alister MacKenzie and Philip Mackenzie Ross.
Away from golf, Port St Mary is ideal for coastal walks, harbour views, diving, fishing and relaxed island exploring. Hashtag Golf Travel can help plan the right tee times, hotels, travel route and wider Isle of Man itinerary.
