Salobre Golf
Maspalomas
Salobre Golf offers one of Gran Canaria’s most distinctive golf experiences, with green fairways carved into the island’s rugged volcanic landscape near Maspalomas. Surrounded by rocky ravines, native planting and views towards the Atlantic Ocean, the club provides a dramatic setting for year-round golf in the Canary Islands.
The 18-hole, par-71 Old Course opened in 1999 and was originally designed by Roland Favré. Its varied layout features elevated tees, water hazards, strategic bunkering and small greens that place a premium on accurate approach play. The course rewards golfers who choose sensible lines and remain patient, with changes in level making distance judgement particularly important. It has also hosted professional events, including the Spanish PGA Championship in 2006.
The New Course was designed by Ron Kirby and opened in 2008. From 1 October 2026, it returns to its complete 18-hole, par-70 layout following an extensive programme of improvements. Built through steeper and more rugged terrain, it provides the more adventurous of Salobre’s two challenges. Volcanic ravines, dramatic elevation changes and exposed greens demand precision, adaptability and confident course management. Multiple teeing options allow golfers to choose a suitable course length for their ability.
Together, the two courses give golfers 36 holes with contrasting personalities. The Old Course provides the more traditional and flowing round, while the New Course feels wilder, more technical and closely connected to the surrounding volcanic landscape. Due to the hilly terrain, a buggy is a sensible choice for many visiting golfers.
Practice facilities include a driving range, putting areas, professional tuition, TrackMan technology and club-fitting services. After golf, players can relax at the clubhouse or enjoy the facilities at the neighbouring Salobre Hotel Resort & Serenity.
Away from the fairways, visitors can explore the Maspalomas Dunes, enjoy waterfront restaurants and sunset walks in Meloneras, or visit the sheltered beach and marina at Puerto de Mogán.
