Souillac Golf & Country Club offers a wonderfully natural golf experience in the heart of the Dordogne Valley, close to the meeting point of the Lot, Dordogne and Corrèze regions. Set across around 60 hectares of rolling countryside and mature oak forest near Lachapelle-Auzac, this is a course with plenty of character and a real sense of escape. The 18-hole, par-67 course winds through undulating woodland, with elevation changes, tree-lined fairways and cleverly positioned greens providing much of the challenge. Rather than simply reaching for the driver on every tee, Souillac encourages you to think carefully about position. Missing on the wrong side of a fairway can leave trees blocking your route to the green, while uneven lies regularly make approach shots more complicated than they first appear.

The greens are one of the course’s biggest defences. Their slopes and contours can make putting particularly demanding, so leaving your approach on the correct section of the putting surface is important. Several holes also feature doglegs and raised greens, meaning club selection and knowing when to play conservatively can save plenty of shots over the course of a round.

The 10th hole gives you a good idea of the challenge. This long uphill par 4 doglegs to the right, with woodland ready to punish anything too far offline. Even after a strong drive, you are unlikely to have a perfectly flat stance for the second shot, while the long, narrow green adds another layer of difficulty.

Practice facilities include a 10-bay covered driving range and putting green, giving you somewhere to warm up before playing or spend extra time sharpening your game. Professional lessons and coaching are available for golfers of all abilities, while buggies, trolleys and club hire can all be arranged through the club. There is also a Pro Shop for anything you need before heading out.
