About The Area

Jõelähtme sits on Estonia’s northern coast, just east of Tallinn, and offers one of the country’s strongest golf settings. It works especially well for golfers who want a peaceful coastal base without being cut off from the capital. In around 20–25 minutes, you can move from Tallinn’s medieval streets to open fairways, Baltic Sea views and quiet countryside.

The main venue is Estonian Golf & Country Club, one of the leading golf clubs in the Baltics. The club is best known for its 18-hole Sea Course, a championship layout set in a rural coastal environment beside the Baltic Sea and close to the Jägala River delta. It mixes open coastal holes, woodland and natural terrain, so the round has plenty of variety rather than one repeated style. The signature 3rd hole is especially known for its sea views, giving the course a proper sense of place.

The club has also offered the 9-hole Stone Course, a links-style layout shaped by ancient stone walls and glacial boulders, although EGCC notes that major construction is underway, with a new Annika Course planned to open in autumn 2027. That makes Jõelähtme an interesting destination now, but also one to watch for future golf trips.

Golf here is best from late spring to early autumn, roughly May to September, when Estonia’s long daylight hours make relaxed evening rounds possible. Off the course, Jõelähtme has more depth than you might expect. Nearby highlights include Jägala Waterfall, the Rebala stone burial sites and historic local landmarks, while Tallinn’s Old Town is close enough for dinner, bars and culture after golf.

For golfers seeking Baltic coastal golf, easy Tallinn access and a destination that feels calm, natural and slightly different from the usual European golf break, Jõelähtme is a strong and quietly distinctive choice.
