Rae Golf
Tallinn
Located just outside Tallinn, Rae Golf is one of Estonia’s most accessible golf venues and a very practical choice for golf breaks based in the capital. The club describes itself as the closest golf centre to Tallinn, offering an 18-hole course alongside strong practice facilities, coaching and family-friendly activities.
The course has a relaxed and welcoming feel, making it suitable for a wide range of golfers. It is not positioned as a severe championship test, but more as an enjoyable, easy-to-reach layout where visitors can play a full round, practise properly or use it as an arrival/departure day option. The facility was renovated by Lassi Tilander in 2019, with work including changes to the home hole, the 9th green and added practice areas.
Rae Golf is especially useful because of its location. Visit Tallinn lists it at 17.8 km from Tallinn Airport, while other golf travel sources describe it as around 20 minutes from Tallinn city centre. That makes it one of the easiest courses to include in an Estonia golf itinerary, especially when paired with Niitvälja Golf and Estonian Golf & Country Club.
Facilities include an 18-hole course, academy course, practice areas and a TrackMan Range with 19 hitting bays, most of them sheltered for year-round practice.

About The Area
Otepää is one of Estonia’s best inland golf destinations, set among rolling hills, forests and lakes in the south of the country. It feels very different from the Tallinn-area courses: quieter, greener and more nature-led, with a proper countryside escape feel. Visit Estonia describes Otepää as Estonia’s top winter holiday destination, but also highlights its lakes and hilly landscape as appealing year-round.
The main venue is Otepää Golf & Country Club, a full-size 18-hole championship PAR73 course and one of Estonia’s strongest golf layouts. The course is set in ancient forest between lakes within Otepää Nature Park, giving it a peaceful, natural setting with plenty of variety from hole to hole.
Golf here is more undulating than many Estonian courses, so it rewards thoughtful club selection and good positioning rather than simply hitting it long. One of the big talking points is the rare par-6 10th hole, which adds a fun, unusual feature for visiting golfers. The landscape is around 60% forested and sits between Lake Saagjärv and Lake Mäha, so it has a lovely secluded feel.
The best time to visit is May to September, when the days are long, the course is at its greenest and South Estonia is ideal for outdoor travel.
Off the course, Otepää is brilliant for nature lovers. Lake Pühajärv, forest trails, cycling routes and spa hotels make it easy to turn a golf break into a proper relaxing holiday. Tartu is also close enough for a cultural day trip, with restaurants, museums and Estonia’s famous university atmosphere.
For golfers seeking peaceful Baltic golf, rolling countryside and a very different side of Estonia, Otepää is one of the country’s most rewarding inland golf escapes.
