Niitvälja Golf
Niitvälja
Located southwest of Tallinn, Niitvälja Golf is often described as the home of Estonian golf and is one of the most established courses in the Baltic region. Opened in 1994, it was the first golf course in the Baltic States and remains one of Estonia’s best-known golf venues.
The main 18-hole Park Course is a par-72 layout set among clean forests, natural water features and peaceful Estonian countryside. It is designed to be enjoyable for club golfers while still giving stronger players a proper test, with water, trees and strategic positioning shaping much of the round. The signature hole is the par-5 15th, which finishes on a floating island green known as the Island of Tears.
Niitvälja also has a 5-hole pay-and-play course, practice facilities, clubhouse, restaurant, pro shop, changing rooms, mini-spa and saunas, making it useful for both serious golfers and mixed-ability groups.
For golf holidays, Niitvälja works perfectly as part of a Tallinn-based itinerary, pairing well with Estonian Golf & Country Club for a strong two-course Estonia golf break. It offers good-quality golf, easy city access and a relaxed countryside setting without long transfers.

About The Area
Niitvälja is one of the most important names in Estonian golf, located in Harju County within easy reach of Tallinn. It is a small, quiet village rather than a resort town, but for golfers it carries real significance: Niitvälja Golf is widely known as the home of Estonian golf and one of the country’s landmark courses. Visit Estonia describes it as the oldest golf course in the Baltic states and notes that its 18-hole Park Course is shaped by clean forests, natural surroundings and plenty of water.
The main venue is Niitvälja Golf, whose 18-hole Park Course provides a classic parkland-style round with pine forest, water hazards and a calm countryside setting. The signature hole is the par-5 15th, known for its island green, which adds a proper risk-and-reward moment to the round. The club also has a 5-hole pay-and-play course, making it useful for beginners, warm-up rounds or mixed-ability groups.
For extra variety, golfers can pair Niitvälja with other Tallinn-area courses. Visit Tallinn highlights Niitvälja Golf, Rae Golf and Estonian Golf & Country Club as three strong options within around half an hour of the capital, giving the area more depth than many golfers may expect from Estonia.
Golf here is best from May to September, when daylight is long and conditions are most reliable. Off the course, Tallinn’s Old Town is the obvious highlight, with Visit Estonia describing it as a living historical museum with cobbled streets, city walls and buildings dating back more than 800 years. Keila Waterfall, also in Harju County, makes a simple nature-focused excursion between rounds.
For golfers seeking peaceful Baltic parkland golf, easy Tallinn access and a destination with genuine Estonian golf heritage, Niitvälja is a strong and quietly rewarding choice.
