Set high above the North Yorkshire coastline near Saltburn-by-the-Sea, Hunley Golf Club offers a distinctive style of coastal moorland golf surrounded by wide-open countryside and impressive views towards the North Sea. With 27 holes and several different course combinations available, Hunley provides plenty of variety for golfers staying for more than one round.

The course has been shaped around the natural contours of the landscape, combining rolling fairways, firm playing surfaces, areas of rough and an exposed coastal setting. Wind can have a significant influence on how the course plays, adding another dimension to club selection and course management. Hunley describes its style as embracing the traditions of running golf and firm turf, making it an interesting alternative to a conventional inland parkland course.

Golfers can experience three principal layouts: Morgans, Imperial and Jubilee, each presenting a different challenge. The Morgans Course is named after former European Senior Tour professional John Morgan, who designed the layout using inspiration from some of his favourite holes encountered during his playing career. It is a championship-length par 72 measuring 6,794 yards from the white tees, providing the longest and most demanding of Hunley's options.

The Imperial Course delivers some of Hunley's most dramatic golf from early in the round. Its highlights include Snaith's, the club's signature hole, where golfers are treated to views across Hummersea Bay towards Boulby Cliffs. Later comes Dicken's Dilemma, a short par three played across water which provides a very different type of test.

For golfers looking for greater scoring opportunities, the Jubilee Course is considered the most forgiving of the three layouts. It includes five par fives, four of which can be reachable for lower-handicap players, together with six par threes. The mix creates plenty of opportunities to attack while still requiring accurate approach play.

Hunley also offers strong practice facilities, including a 10-bay Toptracer driving range, putting green and dedicated short-game area, allowing golfers to work on their game before or after a round. Coaching is available, while the clubhouse provides a relaxed place to meet and unwind afterwards.

With multiple layouts, striking coastal scenery and on-site accommodation available, Hunley Golf Club is particularly well suited to a North Yorkshire golf break, giving groups the opportunity to play different combinations of holes without travelling between courses.
