Korineum Golf Course

Kyrenia

average rating is 4 out of 5

Korineum Golf Course is a spectacular 18-hole championship layout set between the Mediterranean Sea and the Beşparmak mountain range near Esentepe. Opened in 2007 and designed by David Hemstock, with Peter Harradine acting as construction consultant, the course occupies 65 hectares of natural olive and carob scrubland and offers sea and mountain views from every hole.

Playing to a par of 72 and measuring 6,232 metres, Korineum combines undulating fairways with strategically positioned bunkers, two lakes and significant changes in elevation. Five teeing options on every hole allow golfers of different abilities to choose a suitable challenge, although the hilly terrain means a buggy is well worth considering. The course uses Paspalum grass, helping to maintain good playing surfaces throughout the year – an important advantage for golfers considering Cyprus outside the traditional spring and autumn seasons.

Several holes demand careful course management rather than simply distance. The par-five 5th, ‘Vertigo’, offers an aggressive route from the tee that can create a birdie opportunity but brings out of bounds firmly into play. Later in the round, the par-four 16th places water to the right of the green and a large bunker on the left, demanding two accurately positioned shots.

Practice facilities are particularly impressive. The golf academy includes a driving range of almost 300 metres with 34 bays and TrackMan technology, two putting greens, chipping and bunker areas, plus a three-hole academy course featuring a par five, par four and par three. PGA tuition and club hire are also available.

With Korineum Golf & Beach Resort beside the course, it is especially well suited to groups wanting a relaxed stay-and-play golf holiday with accommodation, practice facilities and championship golf all in one place.

About The Area

Kyrenia is one of the most atmospheric bases for a Cyprus golf holiday, especially for golfers who like their trips to include sunshine, scenery and a bit of character away from the fairways. Set on the north coast, the town is best known for its beautiful harbour, waterfront cafés and Kyrenia Castle, which stands beside the port and gives the whole area a proper sense of history. The harbour’s old carob warehouses are now home to cafés and bars, while pleasure boats and gulets add to the relaxed Mediterranean feel.

The main golfing highlight is Korineum Golf & Beach Resort, located east of Kyrenia. Its 18-hole championship course is a par-72 layout measuring 6,232 metres, designed to suit a range of golfers while still offering a proper test. The setting is a huge part of the appeal, with sea and mountain views from every hole, plus olive and carob trees giving the course a natural Cypriot feel.

Away from golf, Kyrenia works well for couples and groups who want more than just resort time. You can explore the castle, enjoy harbourfront meals, take coastal boat trips, visit nearby beaches or head out towards Alagadi, known for turtle conservation.

For UK golfers, Kyrenia is ideal if you want a warm-weather golf escape with a slower pace, memorable views and plenty to enjoy after your round. Hashtag Golf Travel can help tailor the right Cyprus golf holiday around Kyrenia, Korineum and the wider northern coastline.
