Serrezuela Golf Club, officially known as Serrezuela Country Club, is an 18-hole championship course in Mosquera, west of Bogotá. Its peaceful setting on the Bogotá savanna combines mature trees, lakes and views towards the surrounding Andean hills, while remaining within easy reach of Colombia’s capital and international airport.
The par-72 course measures 7,325 yards from the black tees. It was designed by Rafael and Jaime Villegas, with consultancy from Golden Bear International, part of the Jack Nicklaus organisation. Its considerable length makes it one of Colombia’s longest golf courses, although several teeing options allow visiting golfers to choose a distance suited to their ability.
Serrezuela combines broad fairways with strategic bunkering, water hazards and well-protected greens. Lakes influence several holes, encouraging golfers to think carefully about their target lines rather than simply reaching for the driver. Finding the correct section of the fairway can provide a much clearer route into the green, while inaccurate approaches may leave difficult bunker shots or carries across water.
The course sits at approximately 2,600 metres above sea level. At this altitude, the thinner air can add around 10–15% to the distance of a well-struck shot, so first-time visitors may need to adjust their normal club selection. The added carry helps make the championship length more manageable, but firm greens and defined landing areas ensure accuracy remains important.
Golf facilities include a driving range, golf academy and practice areas where players can warm up or work on their game. The wider country club also offers restaurants, swimming pools, tennis courts, a gym, bowling, squash, racquetball and water-sports facilities.
Serrezuela is a private members’ club, so visiting golf should be arranged before travelling, normally through a reciprocal club, organised tournament or specialist golf tour operator. Funza is a convenient base for a golf holiday on the western side of the Bogotá Savannah, combining high-altitude parkland golf with quick access to Colombia’s capital. El Dorado International Airport is around 14 kilometres away by road, although journey times can vary with traffic. We recommend arranging private transfers, particularly when travelling with golf clubs.
The main attraction is San Andrés Golf Club, whose country site is located in Funza. Its 18-hole, par-72 course features mature trees, carefully positioned bunkers and water hazards that become increasingly influential across the back nine. The peaceful parkland surroundings feel far removed from central Bogotá, while the high-altitude setting means well-struck shots may travel farther than golfers expect.
Nearby Serrezuela Country Club in Mosquera provides another strong championship option. Its 18-hole, par-72 layout stretches to more than 7,300 yards from the back tees, creating a substantial test for lower-handicap players while several tee positions make it manageable for mixed golfing groups. Serrezuela was named Colombia’s Best Golf Course at the 2025 World Golf Awards.
Both venues are member-focused clubs, so guest access, tee times, caddies, equipment hire and handicap requirements should be confirmed before travelling. This is a destination where organising the golf properly in advance makes all the difference.
Away from the fairways, La Florida Regional Park and wetland offers walking and birdwatching within the Bogotá Savannah. The habitat supports resident and migratory birds, including species associated with the region’s high-altitude wetlands.
Central Bogotá remains close enough for days or evenings exploring La Candelaria, museums, restaurants and the city’s lively neighbourhoods. Funza therefore works best as part of a tailor-made Bogotá golf itinerary, offering convenient airport access, two notable nearby courses and quieter surroundings outside the capital.
