Chateau Whistler Golf Club

Whistler

average rating is 4 out of 5

Chateau Whistler Golf Club is one of the standout mountain golf experiences in British Columbia and a brilliant choice for UK golfers planning a Whistler golf holiday. Set at the base of Blackcomb Mountain, the course belongs to Fairmont Chateau Whistler and gives you that proper Canadian mix of forest, wildlife, fresh mountain air and dramatic scenery. It works perfectly as part of a wider Vancouver, Sea to Sky and Whistler golf itinerary.

Designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr., the course opened in 1993 and plays as an 18-hole, par-72 layout measuring 6,635 yards. Rather than flattening the land, the design follows the natural mountain terrain, with elevation changes of more than 400 feet, creeks, ponds, granite rock faces and towering Douglas firs shaping the round.

For golfers, Chateau Whistler is scenic but still a proper test. The changes in height, uneven lies and water features mean club selection and course management matter, while the views can be a genuine distraction. The 8th hole is the signature moment: a 212-yard par three from an elevated tee, with a lake to the left and granite rockscape to the right.

For a Canada golf holiday, it pairs beautifully with Nicklaus North, Big Sky, Furry Creek and, when available, Whistler Golf Club. After golf, Whistler Village adds restaurants, bars, shops and a relaxed mountain-resort atmosphere, making Chateau Whistler ideal for golfers who want scenery, comfort and adventure in one trip.

About The Area

Coquitlam is a smart base for golfers who want a Vancouver-area golf holiday with mountain scenery, easy city access and plenty of outdoor appeal. Set east of downtown Vancouver, it gives you a more relaxed West Coast feel while still keeping restaurants, shopping, waterfront areas and city attractions within easy reach. Tourism Coquitlam sums up the area well, with urban neighbourhoods, food spots, parks, shopping and hiking all sitting close together.

The main golfing highlight is GreenTee Country Club Westwood Plateau, set high on Eagle Mountain above Coquitlam. Its Sky Course is an 18-hole championship layout designed by Michael Hurdzan, playing through Douglas firs, granite rock faces and rugged ravines, with panoramic mountain views and a strong resort-style feel. The club also has an executive course, driving range, simulators and practice facilities, making it a flexible choice for different golfing groups.

For a quicker round or short-game session, Eaglequest Coquitlam adds a 9-hole par-27 course with grass tees, large greens and an 80-minute playing time, which is ideal if you want a lighter golf day before exploring more of the city.

Away from golf, Coquitlam is great for active travellers. Town Centre Park and Lafarge Lake offer easy lakeside walks, while Mundy Park has 16 km of forest trails in a temperate rainforest setting.

For UK golfers, Coquitlam works beautifully as part of a tailor-made British Columbia golf holiday, especially when combined with Vancouver, Whistler, Furry Creek or Pemberton. Hashtag Golf Travel can help plan the right courses, hotels and route.
