Furry Creek Golf & Country Club

Furry Creek

average rating is 4 out of 5

Furry Creek Golf & Country Club is one of British Columbia’s most scenic golf experiences and a brilliant addition to a Canada golf holiday for UK travellers. Set just off the Sea to Sky Highway between Vancouver and Whistler, the course combines mountain golf, ocean views and dramatic elevation changes in a way that feels very different from a typical resort round. BC Golf Guide lists it as around 35 minutes north of Vancouver, making it a strong first or final round on a Vancouver and Whistler golf itinerary.

Designed by Robert Muir Graves and opened in 1993, Furry Creek is an 18-hole, par-72 course measuring just over 6,000 yards from the back tees. It is not especially long, but it asks plenty of questions, with forced carries, ravines, blind tee shots, sloping lies, water hazards and undulating greens all part of the challenge.

The setting is the real showstopper. Golfers can expect views over Howe Sound, forested hills, coastal mountains and, if lucky, local wildlife. The signature moment comes at the par-3 14th, where the routing drops towards the shoreline for one of the most photographed holes in Canadian golf.

For Hashtag Golf Travel clients, Furry Creek is ideal as part of a wider British Columbia golf holiday, pairing well with time in Vancouver, Squamish and Whistler. It suits golfers who want scenery, adventure and a round they will still be talking about long after the scorecard has been forgotten.

About The Area

Coquitlam is a smart base for golfers who want a Vancouver-area golf holiday with mountain scenery, easy city access and plenty of outdoor appeal. Set east of downtown Vancouver, it gives you a more relaxed West Coast feel while still keeping restaurants, shopping, waterfront areas and city attractions within easy reach. Tourism Coquitlam sums up the area well, with urban neighbourhoods, food spots, parks, shopping and hiking all sitting close together.

The main golfing highlight is GreenTee Country Club Westwood Plateau, set high on Eagle Mountain above Coquitlam. Its Sky Course is an 18-hole championship layout designed by Michael Hurdzan, playing through Douglas firs, granite rock faces and rugged ravines, with panoramic mountain views and a strong resort-style feel. The club also has an executive course, driving range, simulators and practice facilities, making it a flexible choice for different golfing groups.

For a quicker round or short-game session, Eaglequest Coquitlam adds a 9-hole par-27 course with grass tees, large greens and an 80-minute playing time, which is ideal if you want a lighter golf day before exploring more of the city.

Away from golf, Coquitlam is great for active travellers. Town Centre Park and Lafarge Lake offer easy lakeside walks, while Mundy Park has 16 km of forest trails in a temperate rainforest setting.

For UK golfers, Coquitlam works beautifully as part of a tailor-made British Columbia golf holiday, especially when combined with Vancouver, Whistler, Furry Creek or Pemberton. Hashtag Golf Travel can help plan the right courses, hotels and route.
