Alongside Seaside sits the Plantation Course, whose history also stretches back to the early days of golf at Sea Island. Inspired by Walter Travis’s original 1928 nine-hole design, Plantation was completely redesigned in 2019 by Davis Love III and Mark Love. The modern course retains traditional architectural touches including bulkheads, railroad ties, a Principal’s Nose bunker complex and a punchbowl-style green. Its more open character and strategic options make it enjoyable for different abilities while still providing plenty of challenge. Seaside and Plantation together host the PGA TOUR’s RSM Classic, giving both courses established professional tournament credentials.

The third option is the Retreat Course, located separately from the other two layouts. Redesigned by Davis and Mark Love in 2001, Retreat runs through towering Georgia longleaf pines and mature native oaks. Wider fairways give golfers room to play confidently from the tee, but substantial bunkering and dramatic green complexes ensure accuracy remains important. Its combination of challenge and playability makes Retreat an excellent complement to the more exposed coastal character of Seaside.

Sea Island also has a 17,000-square-foot Golf Performance Center, offering advanced instruction supported by modern technology, extensive teeing areas and practice greens. The facility works with everyone from visiting amateurs to touring professionals, reflecting Sea Island’s long-standing reputation as both a golf resort and a training base for elite players.
