Gasthaus Badhof & Golf Meggen

Lucerne

average rating is 4 out of 5

Set above Lucerne in the municipality of Meggen, Gasthaus Badhof & Golf Meggen offers a relaxed Swiss stay-and-play experience with superb views across Lake Lucerne, the city and the surrounding mountains. The hotel has a boutique, countryside feel while still being just a short journey from central Lucerne, making it a lovely option for golfers who want scenery without feeling cut off.

The accommodation is small and personal, with 14 modern guest rooms, all with balconies overlooking the lake or mountain landscape. The on-site restaurant and terrace add to the appeal, with seasonal regional cuisine and a peaceful setting that works well after a round.

Golf Meggen features a 9-hole championship course and a 6-hole short course, both open to the public. The main course is relatively compact but technical, with lake views, changing lies and thoughtful design keeping the round interesting. Practice facilities include a driving range, putting and pitching areas, indoor simulators and Toptracer technology.

This is not a big resort-style golf complex; it is more intimate, scenic and easy-going. It works beautifully as part of a Lake Lucerne golf itinerary, especially when paired with Lucerne Golf Club or Bürgenstock for a varied central Switzerland stay.

About The Area

Zürich is one of Switzerland’s strongest city-based golf destinations, combining polished courses, lakeside scenery and one of Europe’s most liveable urban settings. It works especially well for golfers who want a refined short break: easy flights, quality hotels, smart restaurants and several courses within sensible driving distance. Switzerland Tourism notes that there are 12 golfing greens in and around Zürich, with landscapes ranging from hilly countryside and woods to lakes and rivers.

A standout option is Golf Kyburg, around 20 minutes from Zürich. It offers an 18-hole championship course and is part of the Leading Golf Courses of Switzerland network, so it has a more premium, well-kept feel. For lake views, Golfpark Zürichsee near Upper Lake Zürich is a strong choice, with gently rolling fairways and views towards the Glarus mountains, the Linth Plateau and Rapperswil. Closer to the city, Dolder Golfclub Zürich provides a historic 9-hole option in an elevated setting above Zürich, useful for a lighter round or arrival-day golf.

Golf around Zürich is generally best from April to October, with May to September offering the most reliable mix of comfortable temperatures, longer daylight and good course conditions.

Off the course, Zürich is ideal for a cultured golf break. The Old Town, Lake Zürich, riverside dining and smart shopping areas make evenings easy to fill, while boat trips, nearby vineyards and day trips to Lucerne or Rapperswil add variety. For golfers seeking Swiss precision, tidy courses, lake views and a proper city-break feel, Zürich is one of Switzerland’s most convenient and polished golf bases.
