Bürgenstock Resort Lake Lucerne

Lucerne

average rating is 5 out of 5

Set high above Lake Lucerne in the heart of central Switzerland, Bürgenstock Resort Lake Lucerne is one of the country’s most iconic luxury resorts. Spread across 60 hectares, the resort combines dramatic lake and alpine views with five-star accommodation, world-class wellness and a strong sense of historic grandeur.

The resort includes the Bürgenstock Hotel & Alpine Spa, Waldhotel by Bürgenstock, Taverne 1879 and private residence-style suites, offering a wide choice of stay styles. Facilities are exceptional, with the 10,000 sqm Bürgenstock Alpine Spa, indoor and outdoor pools, extensive wellness areas, tennis, walking trails, the famous Hammetschwand Lift and a wide range of restaurants and bars.

For golfers, the resort has its own Bürgenstock Alpine Golf course, making it a rare Swiss stay-and-play option with serious luxury attached. The course is shorter and more relaxed than a full championship venue, but the mountain setting and lake views make it a memorable addition to a Swiss golf itinerary. It is ideal for golfers who want to combine light golf with spa time, fine dining and a proper alpine escape.

About The Area

Zürich is one of Switzerland’s strongest city-based golf destinations, combining polished courses, lakeside scenery and one of Europe’s most liveable urban settings. It works especially well for golfers who want a refined short break: easy flights, quality hotels, smart restaurants and several courses within sensible driving distance. Switzerland Tourism notes that there are 12 golfing greens in and around Zürich, with landscapes ranging from hilly countryside and woods to lakes and rivers.

A standout option is Golf Kyburg, around 20 minutes from Zürich. It offers an 18-hole championship course and is part of the Leading Golf Courses of Switzerland network, so it has a more premium, well-kept feel. For lake views, Golfpark Zürichsee near Upper Lake Zürich is a strong choice, with gently rolling fairways and views towards the Glarus mountains, the Linth Plateau and Rapperswil. Closer to the city, Dolder Golfclub Zürich provides a historic 9-hole option in an elevated setting above Zürich, useful for a lighter round or arrival-day golf.

Golf around Zürich is generally best from April to October, with May to September offering the most reliable mix of comfortable temperatures, longer daylight and good course conditions.

Off the course, Zürich is ideal for a cultured golf break. The Old Town, Lake Zürich, riverside dining and smart shopping areas make evenings easy to fill, while boat trips, nearby vineyards and day trips to Lucerne or Rapperswil add variety. For golfers seeking Swiss precision, tidy courses, lake views and a proper city-break feel, Zürich is one of Switzerland’s most convenient and polished golf bases.
