Links Leuk Golfresort

Crans-Montana

average rating is 4 out of 5

Set in the Rhône Valley in the canton of Valais, Links Leuk Golfresort offers one of Switzerland’s more unusual golf experiences: an inland course built with the feel and strategy of traditional Scottish links golf. Surrounded by mountain scenery but laid out across relatively open valley terrain, it gives golfers a very different style of round compared with Switzerland’s more typical alpine parkland courses.

The 18-hole, par-72 layout measures around 6,100 metres from the back tees and is designed to reward creativity, accuracy and thoughtful course management. Firm fairways, fast greens, deep bunkering, natural rough and changing winds all play a part, encouraging golfers to shape shots and use the ground rather than simply attacking through the air.

The resort also includes on-site accommodation, a restaurant, bar, terrace, clubhouse and practice facilities, making it a convenient stay-and-play option in the Valais region. It works especially well for golfers who want something a little different: Swiss mountain surroundings with a clear nod to classic links golf.

Links Leuk Golfresort is ideal as part of a Valais golf itinerary, pairing well with Crans-Montana, Sion and other courses in the wider Rhône Valley.

About The Area

Ardon, located in Switzerland’s Valais canton, offers golfers a spectacular Alpine setting framed by vineyards, dramatic mountain peaks and the Rhône Valley. Less known than Swiss resort towns such as Crans-Montana, Ardon provides a quieter base while still delivering high-quality mountain golf in one of Europe’s most scenic regions.

The focal point is Golf Club de Sion, set on the valley floor between Sion and Martigny. The course blends open fairways with well-placed water hazards and tree-lined holes, offering a strategic but walkable layout. The surrounding Alpine scenery adds constant visual drama, and the dry Valais climate ensures firm playing surfaces throughout much of the season. Just 30 minutes away lies Golf Club Crans-sur-Sierre, host of the Omega European Masters and one of Switzerland’s most prestigious venues. Playing at elevation, it offers immaculate conditioning, sweeping mountain panoramas and a tournament-level test. For further variety, Golf Club de Montreux provides another high-quality Alpine layout near Lake Geneva.

Golf in Valais is characterised by crisp mountain air, reliable sunshine and dramatic elevation contrasts. Summer months (June–September) are prime, with warm days and cooler evenings creating ideal walking conditions.

Off the course, Ardon sits close to Sion, known for its twin hilltop castles — Valère and Tourbillon — overlooking the town. The Rhône Valley is famed for its vineyards, producing distinctive Swiss wines rarely exported abroad. Hiking, cycling and cable-car excursions into the surrounding Alps offer memorable rest-day activities.

For golfers seeking Alpine scenery, championship pedigree nearby and refined Swiss hospitality, Ardon in Valais delivers a striking and refreshingly uncrowded mountain golf escape.
