Sand Golf Club
Jönköping
Sand Golf Club is one of Sweden’s most distinctive inland links-style courses, set just outside Jönköping in southern Sweden. Built on sandy ground from a former potato field, the course was designed by Arthur Hills and Steve Forrest, who used the natural soil conditions to create a fast-running, links-inspired layout away from the coast.
The course opened in 2005 and offers five tee options, ranging from 4,540 metres to 6,670 metres, making it playable for a wide range of golfers while still offering a serious test from the back tees. Expect undulating fairways, firm surfaces, bold bunkering and greens that reward proper course management rather than just power. It is a course where angles matter, and where the ground game can be just as useful as a high, attacking approach.
For a Sweden golf holiday, Sand works especially well as part of a Jönköping or southern Sweden itinerary. The club has on-site accommodation, with hotel rooms and cottages close to the clubhouse and course, plus restaurant facilities, making it a convenient stay-and-play option for travelling golfers.
Its location also gives golfers flexibility. You can combine Sand with other strong Swedish courses, or build it into a road-trip style golf holiday between Gothenburg, Jönköping and the wider south of Sweden. Hashtag Golf Travel can help arrange the right flights, hotels, car hire and tee times, turning Sand Golf Club into a smooth and memorable Scandinavian golf break.

About The Area
Set on the southern shore of Lake Vättern, Jönköping is a brilliant choice for golfers who want a Swedish golf holiday with proper scenery, relaxed city life and a strong mix of courses nearby. It is not the obvious “fly in, flop by the pool” option, and that is exactly the appeal. This is a destination for golfers who enjoy fresh air, quiet fairways, lake views and a trip that feels a little different.
The city itself makes a comfortable base, with restaurants, cafés, shops, museums and a long sandy beach along Lake Vättern. Away from the centre, the landscape opens into classic Småland countryside, with forests, rolling hills, lakeside viewpoints and easy day trips to places such as Gränna and Visingsö.
Golf is the real reason to come, though. Jönköpings Golfklubb brings history and character close to the city, while A6 Golfklubb offers 27 holes in a convenient urban setting. For something more distinctive, Sand Golf Club near Bankeryd gives golfers an inland links-style test inspired by Scottish and Irish course design. Hooks Golfklubb is also within reach, adding resort-style golf and another 36 holes to a wider itinerary.
For UK golfers, Jönköping works especially well as part of a tailor-made Sweden golf break, often combined with Gothenburg, Lake Vättern or a longer self-drive route. Hashtag Golf Travel can help shape the trip around the right courses, travel route and pace, whether you want a short Swedish golf escape or a fuller Scandinavian golf holiday.
