SO/ Sotogrande Spa & Golf Resort Hotel
Costa del Sol
SO/ Sotogrande Spa & Golf Resort Hotel is a stylish five-star base for a Spain golf holiday, especially for UK golfers who want sunshine, smart resort facilities and access to some of Andalusia’s best courses. Set in Cádiz on the western Costa del Sol, the hotel has views across the golf course, countryside, Mediterranean Sea and Gibraltar, with Gibraltar Airport around 24km away and Málaga Airport around 106km away.
The big appeal is how easily it fits into a proper Sotogrande golf itinerary. The Alto Club is on site, offering an 18-hole layout designed by Dave Thomas and later refined by Manuel Piñero, with pine trees, elevation changes, water features and views towards the Mediterranean. It is a good resort course for mixed-ability groups, giving golfers convenience without feeling like a throwaway warm-up round.
Sotogrande is also one of Europe’s strongest golf areas. La Reserva Club is around 2.7km from the hotel, Real Club Valderrama is around 3km away, Real Club de Golf Sotogrande is around 7km away, and La Hacienda Alcaidesa Links is around 11km away. That gives golfers plenty of variety, from championship parkland to Mediterranean-facing links-style golf.
Away from the fairways, the resort has 152 rooms, 4 restaurants and bars, three outdoor pools, an indoor heated pool, fitness facilities and a large thalassotherapy-inspired spa. For a Costa del Sol golf break with luxury, easy transfers, strong course choice and proper downtime, SO/ Sotogrande is a very strong option.

About The Area
Sant Jordi is a quiet inland village in northern Castellón, close to the Costa Azahar coastline. It works well for golfers who want a peaceful base with easy access to beaches, small towns and a proper golf-focused resort setting. Castellón Tourism describes Sant Jordi as being around 12 km from Vinaròs and only around 8 minutes from the beaches of the Costa Azahar, so it gives you a nice mix of countryside calm and coastal access.
The main golf draw is Panorámica Golf, Sport & Resort, located in Sant Jordi. Opened in 1995, the course is set among olive and carob trees and is especially notable because it is the only golf course in Spain designed by Bernhard Langer. The official course information describes it as one of the best courses in Spain, while booking/course listings put the layout at 18 holes, par 72, measuring around 6,330–6,429 metres depending on tee/source reference.
For a golf holiday, Sant Jordi is best treated as a stay-and-play or quiet Costa Azahar base rather than a lively resort town. The course gives golfers the main reason to stay locally, while nearby Vinaròs, Benicarló and Peñíscola add beaches, seafood, old-town wandering and evening options. It is also useful for travellers who want something less obvious than the Costa del Sol or Alicante golf areas.
For Hashtag Golf Travel customers, Sant Jordi works best as a relaxed Spain golf escape, a value-led Costa Azahar break, or part of a wider Valencia/Castellón itinerary. It is not the place for big nightlife, but for peaceful surroundings, good golf, beaches nearby and a quieter Spanish feel, it fits nicely.
