Fairmont St Andrews Golf
St Andrews
Fairmont St Andrews offers two championship golf courses overlooking St Andrews Bay, giving visiting golfers a scenic and convenient base close to the Home of Golf. The Torrance and Kittocks courses sit within the resort’s 520-acre coastal estate, combining links-style features, sea views and modern course conditioning with the comfort of five-star accommodation beside the fairways.
The Torrance Course is the more forgiving of the two layouts, although it still presents a serious championship test. Playing to a par of 72 and measuring up to 7,230 yards, it features revetted bunkers, exposed fairways and views across the Tay Estuary towards St Andrews. Originally created with input from Gene Sarazen and former Ryder Cup captain Sam Torrance, the course was extensively redesigned before hosting the 2009 Scottish Seniors Open.
Its tournament history includes DP World Tour events from 2020 to 2022, an Asian Tour event in 2023 and the Scottish Men’s Amateur Championship in 2024. The resort’s courses have also been used for Final Qualifying ahead of The Open Championship.
The Kittocks Course provides a more dramatic coastal experience. Designed by Bruce Devlin, the par-72 layout measures approximately 7,191 yards and features rolling greens, undulating fairways and several memorable holes beside the clifftops. The coastal wind plays an important role, while changes in elevation and large putting surfaces reward thoughtful club selection. Recent visiting golfers regularly praise the Kittocks for its scenery, warm welcome and variety.
Practice facilities include a driving range with multiple targets, an extensive short-game area and a large putting green. Caddies, GPS buggies, trolleys and rental clubs are also available.
Fairmont St Andrews is particularly well suited to groups wanting two on-site courses while remaining close to the Old Course, New Course, Castle Course and Jubilee Course. Kingsbarns Golf Links is also approximately 6 km away, making the resort an excellent base for a varied St Andrews golf holiday.

About The Area
The Mornington Peninsula sits just south of Melbourne and is one of Australia’s premier golf regions, combining a dense collection of top-ranked courses with coastal scenery, wineries and a relaxed holiday atmosphere. Often considered an extension of Melbourne’s famous Sandbelt, the peninsula offers firm playing conditions, strategic design and a variety of layouts within a compact area.
One of the standout venues is The National Golf Club, home to multiple world-class courses including the Old Course, Moonah and Gunnamatta. Each layout offers a distinct challenge, from classic links-style holes to more modern designs routed through natural dune systems. Nearby, Moonah Links Golf Course provides two championship courses that regularly host professional events, featuring rolling fairways, natural bunkering and open, wind-influenced terrain. Another highlight is St Andrews Beach Golf Course, a Tom Doak design that blends seamlessly with the coastal landscape and is widely praised for its playability and strategic interest.
Golf on the Mornington Peninsula benefits from a temperate coastal climate, with the best conditions typically in spring (September to November) and autumn (March to May), when courses are firm and the weather is comfortable.
Off the course, the peninsula is renowned for its wineries, boutique breweries and coastal villages. Beach walks, cliff-top views and spa retreats offer relaxation between rounds, while nearby Melbourne provides world-class dining and cultural experiences just over an hour away.
For golfers seeking high-quality course variety, coastal links-style golf and a destination that blends championship play with food, wine and relaxation, the Mornington Peninsula delivers one of Australia’s most complete and rewarding golf escapes.
