Murrayshall Country Estate is one of those places that feels made for a relaxing Scottish golf break. The estate dates back to the 17th century but has been beautifully updated, combining traditional character with a much more contemporary feel. There are 62 rooms, suites and luxury pods across the property, with accommodation overlooking the gardens, woodland, fairways and surrounding countryside. You can choose from cosy rooms through to larger Estate and Superior Rooms, luxurious suites and secluded pods if you want something a little different.

Golf is one of the biggest reasons we recommend staying here. The estate is home to the championship Murrayshall Course, an 18-hole parkland layout that winds through mature trees and rolling Perthshire countryside. Recent investment has given the course a more modern American-style parkland feel, with plenty of risk-and-reward decisions throughout the round.

Alongside it is the shorter Lynedoch Course, which provides another nine holes of parkland golf. Its narrower fairways are framed by tall Scots pine trees, making accuracy particularly important. We really like having both options on site, as you can play a full championship round one day and fit in a quicker nine the next. There is also a large driving range, PGA tuition and excellent practice facilities.

Dining is another highlight at Murrayshall. Eòlas provides the estate's refined dining experience, showcasing Scottish produce in an elegant setting, while Cairns Bar & Restaurant offers something more relaxed and is particularly convenient after golf. Barossa Bar is another excellent spot for a drink after your round.

The estate is also introducing an increased focus on wellness, with bespoke treatments available at the Gate Lodge. Add in the woodland trails and extensive grounds and there are plenty of ways to slow things down when you are not playing golf.

Murrayshall's location makes it a particularly useful base for a longer Perthshire golf holiday. Perth is close by, while some of central Scotland's best-known courses and attractions are within easy reach.
