The National Golf Club at Qiddiya City

Riyadh

average rating is 5 out of 5

Just beyond Riyadh, The National Golf Club at Qiddiya City introduces a completely different backdrop for a golf holiday in Saudi Arabia. Its green fairways sit beneath the towering, 200-metre-high Tuwaiq cliffs, where rugged desert scenery makes the setting memorable before you've even struck a ball. We think this is an exciting addition for golfers looking to discover a destination that's developing its own distinctive golfing identity.

Designed by six-time major champion Sir Nick Faldo and opening on 30 October 2026, the championship course features 18 holes arranged in three six-hole loops. That flexibility is one of its strongest features: play six holes when time is limited, or combine the loops for a full round. Faldo's design aims to offer an enjoyable challenge for experienced players while remaining welcoming to beginners. There's no membership requirement, making the course accessible to visiting golfers and those trying the game for the first time.

Operated by Golf Saudi, the club offers a dedicated clubhouse, alongside practice and coaching opportunities. Further facilities, including a new clubhouse, driving range and golf academy, are scheduled to open in 2028. We also like the emphasis on sustainability, with recycled-water irrigation, electric golf buggies and careful water management forming part of the development.

For a longer Riyadh golf holiday, we'd suggest combining The National Golf Club with Dirab Golf & Country Club or Riyadh Golf Club for additional rounds. The capital's excellent restaurants, cultural attractions and historic Diriyah district also provide plenty to enjoy away from the fairways. We'd recommend Qiddiya City to couples, groups and adventurous golfers looking to experience an exciting new chapter in Saudi Arabian golf as part of a tailor-made holiday with Hashtag Golf Travel.

About The Area

Riyadh is an exciting destination for a golf holiday in Saudi Arabia, combining championship courses, spectacular desert landscapes and world-class hospitality. As the Kingdom's vibrant capital, Riyadh offers golfers a unique opportunity to discover a rapidly developing golfing destination, with luxury hotels, fascinating cultural attractions and warm winter sunshine.

For golf, our main recommendation is Riyadh Golf Club, an impressive 18-hole, par-72 championship course featuring beautifully maintained fairways, challenging water hazards and excellent practice facilities. We would also recommend Dirab Golf & Country Club, a scenic course surrounded by desert mountains, offering peaceful surroundings and a rewarding golfing experience.

Another exciting addition is The National Golf Club at Qiddiya City, a spectacular Sir Nick Faldo-designed championship course set beneath the dramatic Tuwaiq cliffs. Opened in October 2026, its innovative three six-hole loops provide flexibility for golfers of different abilities.

Away from golf, Riyadh offers plenty to explore. We would recommend visiting the historic At-Turaif district in Diriyah, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, or discovering Saudi Arabia's fascinating history at the National Museum.

For something different, experience the dramatic Edge of the World escarpment, explore traditional souqs or enjoy the city's luxury shopping centres and outstanding restaurants. Riyadh's growing entertainment scene also provides plenty to enjoy after golf.

Our tip: choose Riyadh for a Saudi Arabia golf holiday combining exceptional desert golf, luxury accommodation, fascinating Arabian heritage and beautiful winter weather.
