Riyadh Golf Club

Riyadh

average rating is 4 out of 5

Riyadh Golf Club brings a surprisingly green golfing experience to the Saudi Arabian desert. Located in Al Aarid, on the northern side of Riyadh, this established championship course combines sweeping fairways, lakes and gently undulating terrain with the energy of a rapidly growing golf destination. We think it's an excellent starting point for golfers exploring Saudi Arabia's capital.

Designed by Scottish architect Duncan Thomson and opened in 2005, the 18-hole, par-72 course measures 7,462 yards from the black tees. Its generous landing areas encourage confident driving, but water hazards, bunkers and streams mean that finding the right position is still important. Longer holes provide a proper test, while carefully shaped greens reward accurate approaches. The course has also welcomed major professional events, including the PIF Saudi International and LIV Golf Riyadh.

One of the highlights here is the opportunity to play all 18 holes under floodlights. We'd particularly recommend an evening round for something memorable, especially when daytime temperatures are high. The club also features a driving range, PGA-qualified coaching, a pro shop and clubhouse dining, with gym and changing facilities for relaxing after golf.

For a longer Riyadh golf holiday, we'd suggest pairing the club with Dirab Golf & Country Club, which offers a contrasting setting south of the city. The newly opened National Golf Club at Qiddiya City is another interesting addition to consider, subject to tee-time availability. Combine your rounds with Riyadh's restaurants, museums and historic Diriyah, and you have the makings of a distinctive tailor-made golf holiday with Hashtag Golf Travel.

About The Area

Riyadh is an exciting destination for a golf holiday in Saudi Arabia, combining championship courses, spectacular desert landscapes and world-class hospitality. As the Kingdom's vibrant capital, Riyadh offers golfers a unique opportunity to discover a rapidly developing golfing destination, with luxury hotels, fascinating cultural attractions and warm winter sunshine.

For golf, our main recommendation is Riyadh Golf Club, an impressive 18-hole, par-72 championship course featuring beautifully maintained fairways, challenging water hazards and excellent practice facilities. We would also recommend Dirab Golf & Country Club, a scenic course surrounded by desert mountains, offering peaceful surroundings and a rewarding golfing experience.

Another exciting addition is The National Golf Club at Qiddiya City, a spectacular Sir Nick Faldo-designed championship course set beneath the dramatic Tuwaiq cliffs. Opened in October 2026, its innovative three six-hole loops provide flexibility for golfers of different abilities.

Away from golf, Riyadh offers plenty to explore. We would recommend visiting the historic At-Turaif district in Diriyah, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, or discovering Saudi Arabia's fascinating history at the National Museum.

For something different, experience the dramatic Edge of the World escarpment, explore traditional souqs or enjoy the city's luxury shopping centres and outstanding restaurants. Riyadh's growing entertainment scene also provides plenty to enjoy after golf.

Our tip: choose Riyadh for a Saudi Arabia golf holiday combining exceptional desert golf, luxury accommodation, fascinating Arabian heritage and beautiful winter weather.
