About The Area
Wellington in Somerset is a lovely choice for golfers who want a relaxed West Country golf break with countryside, easy travel links and plenty of fresh air between rounds. Sitting close to the Blackdown Hills and just off the M5, it works well as a practical base for groups travelling from different parts of the UK, especially if you want a quieter alternative to bigger resort towns.
For golf, we would recommend looking at nearby Oake Manor Golf Club, a friendly Somerset course set between the Quantock, Brendon and Blackdown hills. It is a strong option for visiting golfers, with an 18-hole course, rural views, water hazards on 10 holes, practice facilities and a relaxed clubhouse feel. Taunton & Pickeridge Golf Club is another excellent nearby choice, offering peaceful surroundings, year-round play and wide views across the Blackdown and Mendip Hills, Somerset Levels and even towards Glastonbury Tor on a clear day.
Away from golf, Wellington gives you proper Somerset countryside appeal. Our top recommendation is Wellington Monument, a National Trust landmark on the edge of the Blackdown Hills. It is ideal for a post-round walk, picnic or simple leg-stretch with big country views. You can also explore local pubs, Taunton, the Quantocks and the wider Blackdown Hills.
Our tip: choose Wellington for a good-value Somerset golf holiday with scenic parkland golf, easy road access and a peaceful countryside feel.
