Golf Club BurgGolf Purmerend
Purmerend
Located just north of Amsterdam in the Dutch countryside, Golf Club BurgGolf Purmerend offers one of the most flexible golf experiences in the region. The venue is widely listed as a large multi-course facility, with championship golf, shorter-course options and practice facilities, making it useful for both serious golfers and mixed-ability groups.
The main golf offering includes a 36-hole course plus a 9-hole par-3 course, with layouts originally designed by Tom McAuley and later expanded by Bruno Steensels. The courses have a parkland/woodland feel, with flat to gently undulating terrain, water hazards and open Dutch landscape shaping the round.
Purmerend is not about dramatic elevation or coastal links golf; it is more about variety, convenience and easy access from Amsterdam. The multiple course options make it a strong choice for groups who want more than one round without extra transfers, while the par-3 course and practice areas are useful for beginners, warm-ups or lighter golf days.
For Netherlands golf holidays, BurgGolf Purmerend works especially well as part of an Amsterdam-based itinerary. It gives golfers a countryside setting within easy reach of the city, so you can combine golf with Amsterdam hotels, canals, restaurants and sightseeing without long travel times.

About The Area
Purmerend is a handy Dutch golf base just north of Amsterdam, offering easy access to countryside golf, historic towns and classic North Holland scenery. It sits within Laag Holland, an area known for polders, waterways, traditional villages and wide-open landscapes immediately above the capital. Laag Holland tourism describes the region as “real Holland” just north of Amsterdam, with villages such as Edam, Volendam, Marken and Purmerend surrounded by lowland countryside and water.
The key golf venue is Golfpark De Purmer / BurgGolf Purmerend, located on the edge of the town. The course is set in the open North Holland polder landscape and offers a 27-hole championship course plus a 9-hole par-3 course, with water features, bunkers, wide fairways and practice facilities. It is a very useful setup for golf groups because the different 9-hole loops can be combined into varied 18-hole rounds, while the short course works well for beginners, warm-ups or a lighter arrival-day round.
Golf here is generally parkland/polder-style rather than links: open views, water hazards and relatively flat walking conditions. The best time to visit is April to October, with May to September giving the most comfortable weather and longer daylight.
Off the course, Purmerend is well placed for proper Dutch day trips. Amsterdam is close enough for evenings out, museums and canal-side dining, while Edam, Volendam, Marken and the Beemster polder give you windmills, cheese, fishing villages and classic countryside scenery without long transfers. Purmerend itself has a relaxed local feel, with town-centre cafés, restaurants and historic market-square atmosphere.
For golfers seeking easy Amsterdam access, flexible golf facilities and a quieter North Holland base, Purmerend is a practical and enjoyable Dutch golf escape.
