Lanzarote Golf
Las Palmas
Lanzarote Golf offers a striking round among the island’s volcanic hills, with panoramic views across the Atlantic Ocean and the distinctive landscapes of Lanzarote. Positioned between Tías and Puerto del Carmen, the course combines an unusual natural setting with easy access to the resort’s beaches, hotels and restaurants, making it an excellent choice for a year-round Canary Islands golf holiday.
Designed by American golf architect Ron Kirby, the 18-hole, par-72 course measures 6,133 metres from the back tees. Its layout includes four par threes, ten par fours and four par fives, creating a nicely balanced round suitable for a wide range of golfers.
The course follows the natural slopes and irregular contours of the volcanic terrain rather than forcing a traditional design onto the landscape. Dark lava ground, original stone walls and rolling fairways contrast beautifully with the course’s green playing surfaces. Wide landing areas make the course approachable from the tee, but changes in elevation, bunkers and exposed greens ensure that careful club selection and accurate approach play remain important.
Lanzarote’s breeze can add another layer of difficulty, particularly across the more open sections of the course. Golfers may need to control their ball flight and judge how uphill or downhill shots affect distance. Different teeing options allow mixed-handicap groups to choose an enjoyable challenge, while experienced players will find plenty of strategic decisions from the longer tees.
Practice facilities include a driving range, putting green and short-game area, while equipment hire and professional golf services are also available. After the round, golfers can relax at the clubhouse before heading into Puerto del Carmen.
Away from golf, visitors can enjoy the beaches and seafront restaurants of Puerto del Carmen, explore the Old Town Harbour or join a boat trip along the coast. Timanfaya National Park and the volcanic vineyards of La Geria are also excellent additions to a Lanzarote golf holiday.
