Golf de Mont Griffon is a fantastic option for golfers looking for quality parkland golf within easy reach of Paris. Set above Luzarches in the peaceful Ysieux Valley, the club combines rolling countryside, woodland and water with two contrasting courses and one of the most extensive practice facilities we have come across in France. For us, it works brilliantly for a short northern France golf break, particularly if you want to combine golf with time in Chantilly or Paris.

The main course is Les Lacs, an 18-hole, par-72 layout measuring approximately 5,900 metres. As the name suggests, water is an important part of the experience, with lakes helping to shape several holes and forcing you to think carefully about positioning. The course opens up to impressive views across the Ysieux Valley, while well-defended greens and changing elevations ensure there is plenty of challenge once you leave the tee.

We particularly like that Les Lacs rewards sensible course management. There are opportunities to attack, but simply reaching for the driver on every hole is not always the best answer. Water, bunkering and the contours of the land can quickly punish an ambitious line, while finding the correct side of the fairway often leaves a much more comfortable approach.

Alongside the championship course is La Forêt, a nine-hole, par-34 layout measuring around 2,790 metres. This shorter course has a noticeably different character, with rolling terrain and a more technical feel. It is ideal for an additional nine during a longer stay, but experienced golfers should not underestimate it – accuracy and thoughtful club selection are still important.

One of Mont Griffon’s biggest strengths is its practice complex. The range offers an extraordinary 310 hitting positions, including 110 covered bays, alongside grass practice areas and three dedicated practice greens. Professional coaching is available, with modern technology including TrackMan used for swing analysis and tuition. It is an excellent venue if you want your golf holiday to include some proper practice rather than simply moving from one tee time to the next.

The clubhouse restaurant overlooks the golf and provides a relaxed place for food and drinks after your round, while Golf Hôtel de Mont Griffon sits directly on the estate for an easy stay-and-play experience.
