Évian Resort Golf Club
Évian-les-Bains
Évian Resort Golf Club is one of the most distinctive golf experiences in France, combining championship pedigree with spectacular views across Lake Geneva and the surrounding Alps. Set above Évian-les-Bains, the club has been part of the resort since 1904 and today offers a course that feels both historic and thoroughly modern. For us, it is a brilliant centrepiece for a golf holiday in the French Alps.
The main attraction is The Champions Course, an 18-hole, par-72 layout measuring 6,120 metres from the back tees. The course was expanded to 18 holes in 1922, extensively renovated in the early 1990s and completely redesigned in 2013 to create the championship layout played today.
What we particularly like about The Champions Course is the combination of scenery and strategy. The elevated position creates incredible views across Lake Geneva, but the golf itself demands your full attention. Sloping fairways, carefully positioned water hazards, bunkering and fast, technical greens mean good course management is essential. The terrain also creates plenty of uneven lies and changes in elevation, so judging distance correctly can be just as important as finding the right line.
There is genuine Major Championship history here too. Since 2013, The Champions Course has hosted The Amundi Evian Championship as one of the five Major Championships in women’s golf, giving visiting golfers the opportunity to play the same holes that test the world’s leading players each summer.
The course has continued to evolve, with major improvements carried out between 2022 and 2024. Lakes and water hazards were expanded, adding additional strategic challenges while also improving the way water is managed across the property.
The golf experience continues at the Évian Resort Golf Club Academy, less than five minutes away. The Academy includes extensive practice and coaching facilities featuring TrackMan Range and TopTracer technology, alongside dedicated areas for driving, iron play, putting and short-game practice.
There is also The Lake Course, a six-hole par-3 layout designed by Dave Sampson. Measuring 885 metres, it overlooks Lake Geneva and provides a great option for a quicker round, some additional practice or golfers who are not quite ready to take on the full Champions Course.
Évian Resort accommodation, including Hôtel Royal and Hôtel Ermitage, is only minutes away with resort shuttle services connecting the hotels and golf facilities.

About The Area
Évian-les-Bains is one of France’s most elegant golf holiday destinations, set on the southern shore of Lake Geneva with the Alps rising behind it. Famous for its spa heritage, mineral water and Belle Époque charm, it is ideal for golfers who want scenic golf, lakeside relaxation and a refined French resort atmosphere in one trip.
The main draw is Evian Resort Golf Club, a historic venue dating back to 1904 and home to the Champions Course. This 18-hole, par-72 layout measures 6,120 metres and enjoys a spectacular setting between Lake Geneva and the Alps, with views throughout the round. It also hosts The Amundi Evian Championship, the only Major golf tournament in continental Europe, which gives the destination serious golfing pedigree.
Away from the fairways, Évian-les-Bains has plenty to offer. Golfers can stroll the lakeside promenade, visit the town’s famous spa facilities, enjoy restaurants and cafés, take boat trips across Lake Geneva, or explore nearby Thonon, Yvoire and Montreux. The combination of golf, wellness, food, scenery and culture makes it especially appealing for couples and groups who want more than a standard golf break.
For UK golfers, Évian-les-Bains works beautifully as part of a tailor-made France golf holiday, either as a relaxing lakeside escape or combined with Geneva, the French Alps or a wider Lake Geneva itinerary. Hashtag Golf Travel can help plan the right hotels, tee times and travel route for a polished, memorable golf holiday.
Research notes: Evian Resort describes the town as a Lake Geneva spa destination with access to Thonon, Yvoire and Montreux. The Champions Course is listed as an 18-hole, par-72 course at 6,120 metres, with lake and Alpine views, while The Amundi Evian Championship is officially described as the only Major in continental Europe.
