St George's Hill Golf Club
Weybridge
St George’s Hill Golf Club is one of Surrey’s great heathland experiences and a brilliant addition to a golf holiday in South East England. Set within the private St George’s Hill estate in Weybridge, the club opened in 1913 and was designed by Harry Colt, one of the most respected names in golf course architecture. Its famous Red and Blue nines form the main 18-hole layout, with the Green nine also available for those wanting to extend the day.
For golfers, this is classic inland golf at its best: pine-lined holes, heather, clever bunkering, natural elevation changes and a clubhouse that looks out beautifully across the course. Golf Monthly ranks the Red and Blue Course 25th in its UK & Ireland Top 100 for 2025/26, describing it as a fine example of Golden Age golf architecture. The par-3 8th on the Red Course is often highlighted as one of its standout holes, playing across heather and sand in proper picture-postcard fashion.
St George’s Hill works particularly well as part of a Surrey golf tour, with nearby courses such as Woking, West Byfleet, New Zealand, West Hill and Sunningdale all helping make this area one of the strongest golf destinations in England. Visitor access is limited and generally requires advance booking, which adds to the sense of occasion.
For a golf break near London, St George’s Hill offers history, prestige and a seriously memorable round without needing to travel far from the capital.

About The Area
Walton-on-Thames is a strong Surrey base for a golf break, especially if the trip needs to combine good golf, Heathrow access and a relaxed riverside town. The key local option is Burhill Golf Club, set on the outskirts of Walton-on-Thames. It has two golf courses, the Old Course and New Course, in a leafy parkland setting, giving groups proper variety without needing long transfers.
There is also excellent golf nearby at St George’s Hill Golf Club in Weybridge, one of Surrey’s classic high-end golf names, though access should be checked carefully because it is more exclusive than a standard visitor-friendly course.
Away from golf, Walton-on-Thames gives visitors Thames riverside walks, pubs, restaurants and quick London links. For Hashtag Golf Travel customers, it works best as a Surrey golf weekend, Heathrow-friendly stopover, or London-edge golf base with a more relaxed feel than staying in the capital.
