Dale Hill Golf Club offers two contrasting 18-hole parkland courses across more than 350 acres of undulating East Sussex countryside. With extensive views over the High Weald, mature woodland and an on-site hotel, it provides a practical setting for society days and multi-round golf breaks.
The Ian Woosnam Course is Dale Hill’s longer championship layout. Designed by the former Masters champion and Ryder Cup captain, it was constructed in 1995 and opened in 1997. The par-71 course covers almost 200 acres and begins with a demanding 602-yard par five.
As the round develops, the course opens out to reveal wide views across the Sussex countryside. Long rough places a premium on accuracy from the tee, while quick greens built to USGA specifications test approach play and putting. Golfers must balance distance with careful positioning, making it an enjoyable challenge for both lower and higher handicappers.
The Dale Hill Course, often referred to as the Old Course, opened in 1973 on land previously used as a dairy farm. Measuring just over 5,800 yards, it plays to a par of 69 for men and par 70 for women. Although shorter than the Woosnam Course, its tree-lined holes and small, testing greens mean accuracy remains essential.
Together, the two layouts provide useful variety. The Woosnam offers greater length, open views and a modern championship challenge, while the Old Course rewards control and precise iron play within a more established parkland setting.
Practice facilities include a driving range, two putting greens and a practice bunker. Electric buggies are available, including year-round buggy access on the Ian Woosnam Course. The on-site hotel, restaurant, bar, swimming pool, sauna and gym make it easy to build both courses into a short golf break.
