Boundary Lakes Golf Club

Southampton

average rating is 4 out of 5

Part of the Ageas Bowl complex near Southampton, Boundary Lakes Golf Club offers a well-designed 18-hole parkland course that blends golf with sport and leisure. Built around the cricket ground and adjoining lakes, the course features water hazards on several holes, tree-lined fairways, and well-placed bunkers. Though not overly long, the layout rewards good strategy and club selection. It’s popular with local members and visitors, thanks to its excellent practice facilities and relaxed vibe. The modern clubhouse includes a bar, restaurant, and terrace with views over both the golf course and the cricket pitch. With its easy access from the M27 and good on-site hospitality, Boundary Lakes is a great spot for a sociable, enjoyable round in the South of England.

About The Area

Ventnor is a lovely Isle of Wight base for a coastal golf break, especially for golfers who want sea views, cliff-top scenery and a slower island feel. Southampton Airport is the most practical mainland airport option, with route sources placing it around 34–36 miles from Ventnor, though the real journey needs a ferry connection as well.

The main local course is Ventnor Golf Club, the oldest golf club on the Isle of Wight, founded in 1892. It sits above Ventnor in a downland and cliff-top setting, with panoramic views across the countryside, mainland and English Channel.

For more island golf, Shanklin & Sandown Golf Club is a strong nearby option and is around 20 minutes from East Cowes ferry terminal, making it useful for a wider Isle of Wight itinerary.

Away from golf, Ventnor has plenty of charm. Steephill Cove is tucked below the Ventnor Undercliff and only accessible on foot, with scenery, clear swimming water and rock pools, while Ventnor Botanic Garden and the seafront add more relaxed holiday appeal.

For Hashtag Golf Travel customers, Ventnor works best as a scenic Isle of Wight golf escape, a coastal short break, or part of a wider island itinerary with Shanklin, Sandown, Ryde and Cowes. It is not the easiest UK golf destination logistically, but the island setting gives it a very different charm.
